It seems that the study of the evolution of consciousness was a still bith around the end of the 19th century. With the advent of the 2012 phenomenon, things have been re-igniting over the last twenty years or so. Could mankind be headed to some major jump, an exponential shift in consciousness, and not some deadly natural disaster? The idea sure gets my vote.
Darwin brought a lot to the sociological scene, but it seems that with his passing in 1882 so did the pursuit of evolutionary consciousness.
Mankind became fascinated with the MATERIAL world and somehow watching rats run around in a cage or tracking endlessly on a treadmill fixated the students of behaviorial psychology into a cottage industry and then into a full-fledged effort to find mankind. Pushing levers, opening doors, and watching small creatures discover whatever small creatures discover took over the psychological endeavors.
However, it wasn't long before cognitive psychology became the new fad!
Now the game shifted from the small creatures to us larger ones though not entirely. The advent of computers allowed us to develop models of neuroprocessing, and to begin to dig into and monitor all those tiny electrical circuits within the brain, the dazzling operation of synapses, and so on: all the while forgetting the bigger picture. Besides, the big picture is just so hard to understand.
Now along comes this ancient mythology of something galactic happening: a crossover or an intersection with the diameter of the galaxy wherein a supposed photon belt spits out life changing rays- and so on. But, what that has led to is for us to get outside of the individual and look at the environment wherein these individuals live: the planet, solar system, galaxy, and universe: maybe parallel universes!
The study of mankind is not an either or approach and maybe we've been coming at in in the linear fashion that we needed to; however, where do we go from here? Is it true that early homonoids, and maybe the Lemurians, didn't speak in a physical voice but telepathically? Might we be coming full circle and elevating or at least building into the third dimensional realities something really, really different?
What saith thou? :-)
