2014: Week 13

nfl-logo

NFL week 13 NFL picks. Evo pickers are now 75-35-1 on the season after going 10-5 for the week.

This week features some great matchups and must win games. The NFL did a great job of scheduling Thanksgiving games that people will actually watch.

Seattle at San Francisco
Thursday, Nov. 27, 8:30 p.m. ET (NBC)

When this game was set for Thanksgiving no one thought both these teams would be fighting tooth and nail for the last wild card spot in the NFC. This is a must win game for both these teams. The 49ers offense has been dreadful even during their winning streak and Seattle seems to be playing better. Although its in SF I think SEA wins in a close one. SEA 27-24

Philadelphia at Dallas
Thursday, Nov. 27, 4:30 p.m. ET (FOX)

When this game was set the NFL schedule makers did the Eagles a dis-service by making them go on the road on a short week for a division game. Typically on Thanksgiving we know that the Cowboys always host someone, but usually its a non division game. This year is different and this game will decide who takes the NFC East lead. Expect a lot of scoring with both teams capable of putting up a lot of points. The Eagles score more none offensive TD's than anyone and that could be the difference in this game. However with the Cowboys at home I give them a slight nod in a close game. DAL 34-33

Chicago at Detroit
Thursday, Nov. 27, 12:30 p.m. ET (CBS)

I expect Detroit's defense to rebound and have a field day against a very mediocre Bears offense and dominate the line of scrimmage. Both teams offensively have underperformed this year even though they have some of the best WR's in the NFL. Lack of dedication to the running game and struggling Olines have contributed. I expect this game to be won on defense and the nod goes to the home team. DET 27-17

New England at Green Bay
Sunday, Nov. 30, 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS)

This is going to be the game of the weekend with two super bowl caliber teams getting together. Weather will be cold but no snow or rain is expected. Both teams have been on winning streaks and both teams have been routing opponents at home during their streaks. The O/U is 58 so bookies feel as though it will be a very high scoring game and I wouldn't be surprised if it went way over that number. GB 41-38

Denver at Kansas City
Sunday, Nov. 30, 8:30 p.m. ET (NBC)

Great Sunday night game and if the Broncos win they would take a 2 game lead in the AFC West plus have the tiebreaker over the Chiefs with the sweep. Manning is unstoppable at home but this game will be in very loud KC and will be a primetime game. The Broncos showed last week they can actually run the ball with CJ Anderson and I expect them to try the same thing this week which will open up passing lanes. The Chiefs on the other hand will not be able to keep up with Manning here. DEN 31-23

San Diego at Baltimore
Sunday, Nov. 30, 1 p.m. ET (CBS)

Another huge game with major playoff implications.. The loser takes a huge hit to their playoff chances plus this is a conference game which will play big with tiebreakers. The big advantage here is Rivers being hobbled by injury and the Chargers having to fly east 3 time zones to play an early game. The last time they had to do that they got hammered by the Dolphins 37-0. BAL 31-20

New Orleans at Pittsburgh
Sunday, Nov. 30, 1 p.m. ET (FOX)

Another huge game with both teams fighting for their playoff lives. The Steelers tend to play down to their competition and the Saints just dropped 3 straight games at home and they are awful on the road. So obviously the trends contradict each other so on this one a picker must go with their gut and my gut tells me the Steelers play down to the Saints level and blow a game they should win at home. Expect a big passing game with the weather forecast to be mild with a chance of light rain. NO 35-31 UPSET of the week

Cleveland at Buffalo
Sunday, Nov. 30, 1 p.m. ET (CBS)

The Bills terrific defense is going to win them this game. BUF 20-14

Miami at N.Y. Jets
Monday, Dec. 1, 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)

Geno Smith is expected to start, he did play well the last time these two teams met in Miami, but did most of his damage with his legs. The Dolphins do well against QB's who are one dimensional so the Jets must run the ball if they want to have a chance and keep the ball out of the air. MIA 30-13 LOCK of the week

N.Y. Giants at Jacksonville
Sunday, Nov. 30, 1 p.m. ET (FOX)

NYG 23-13

Carolina at Minnesota
Sunday, Nov. 30, 1 p.m. ET (FOX)

CAR 19-14

Washington at Indianapolis
Sunday, Nov. 30, 1 p.m. ET (FOX)

Another game where the QB was benched which is bad news for the Colts. McCoy starts in this game and I believe that the Skins give the Colts a lot of headaches here. I would be foolish to pick the Skins in this game but I think they have a chance at an upset. Problem is Luck is very hard to stop at home. IND 27-23

Cincinnati at Tampa Bay
Sunday, Nov. 30, 1 p.m. ET (CBS)

Dangerous game here for the Bengals, classic trap game. I still like them to win but watch out for an upset. CIN 24-20

Oakland at St. Louis
Sunday, Nov. 30, 1 p.m. ET (CBS)

The Rams play well at home and I expect their D to have a big game against the woeful Raiders offense. STL 20-9

Tennessee at Houston
Sunday, Nov. 30, 1 p.m. ET (CBS)

The Titans aren't any good even though the Texans have a lot of injuries. HOU 21-17

Arizona at Atlanta
Sunday, Nov. 30, 4:05 p.m. ET (FOX)

ARI 27-20
