NPP vs. Deca Durabolin

Bulking season is about to begin for many bros; as a result, you can see the increase in posts asking which compound is the better choice: nandrolone phenylpropionate (npp) or nandrolone decanoate (deca durabolin).  Nandrolone is a great compound for any bulking cycle, but which ester is best really comes down to the user, their goals and personal preferences.

Nandrolone Phenylpropionate (NPP)


Nandrolone Phenylpropionate is great for users who enjoy doing short, quick “blasts” or cycles and do not mind a more frequent pinning schedule.  Users report all the same joint relief benefits of deca durabolin without the “deca bloat”, water retention or “moon face”.  NPP is a shorter ester, meaning each milliliter (ml) will yield a higher dose of active compound compared to that of the longer decanoate ester.  The shorter ester also allows users to see results sooner; thus, this allows for shorter cycles.  Usually, most users do 8-10 week cycles, and this also allows users to begin recovery faster.

Nandrolone decanoate (deca durabolin)


Nandrolone decanoate has always been the uncontested “go to” bulking steroid.  It requires a less frequent pinning schedule, but the longer ester requires cycles to be much longer, between 16-20 weeks.  As always, deca has been reported to give great strength and size gains.  The downside to deca durabolin is the reported water retention.  This can settle in a users jaw-line giving the face a full round look that some refer to as “moon face”.  The long ester also takes much longer to clear the system, which makes recovery much harder.  Though not impossible to recover from, it will be much harder when compared to regular testosterone.  Therefore, this is a great compound for users who do not really need to worry about recovery and choose a blast and cruise regiment.

NPP vs. Deca


Nandrolones are typically one of the hardest compounds to recover from, as it can shut users down very harshly and can linger in the system for an extremely long time.  Users who plan on cycling on and off, as opposed to blasting and cruising, should definitely take this into consideration when choosing which ester best suites their goals and needs.

In fact, both versions of nandrolone are great for the bulking season; both nandrolones will build mass and increase strength significantly.  It is important for the user to consider their goals and take everything into consideration to get the most from their cycle with these steroids.  You have to make a choice that best matches your lifestyle.  From my experience, NPP is better for getting lean, while deca is better to bulk up.  In fact, I wouldn't suggest running deca durabolin for cutting cycles, just as I wouldn't suggest bulking with NPP if you have other options.

Regardless of which compound you choose, it is important to properly protect yourself and take all necessary precautions.  Running an aromatase inhibitor, aromasin, prolactin inhibitor, cabergoline, with cardarine, PPAR inhibitor, and N2Guard, liver and organ health, are the bare minimum to ensure you properly protect yourself while cycling with any ester of nandrolone.
