At his peak, Cedric was 310 pounds, 6'1'', and ripped 6% body fat or less.
In this article, we will take a look at his interesting life and celebrate his accomplishments. We will also talk about why he passed away so young and discuss his steroid cycles.
Early life
Cedric was born in August of 1977, and one of his first memories was watching bodybuilders on television and being inspired by their muscles. His favorite action star was Arnold of course, and he wanted to look like Conan the Barbarian one day.
He started to work on bodyweight exercises such as sit-ups, pushups, pullups, etc. This built him a good base early on in life, and he also would read bodybuilding magazines and pick the brains of older lifters in his neighborhood. As an early teenager he transitioned to weight training, but his mom would not let him lift them without adult supervision, so he would hide his training from his mother when she was not home. He says one of the things that drew him to weight training as a kid was the solo aspect, he didn't want to have to depend on teammates playing football or basketball.
After college, he joined the US Army Reserves and was able to train there and he enjoyed it. He continued to build up his physique, 10 pounds here and 15 pounds there, which looked good on his lean body frame. He ballooned up to 230 pounds, then cut down hard down to 210 for his first amateur competition where he won easily.
Military tour and first real competitions
When the Iraq War started Cedric was sent there and stationed in the middle of the desert with no access to gym equipment. He had to use spare parts and wood to put together a makeshift gym so he could keep training. Once he came home he wanted to become a pro bodybuilder and set his site on the 2007 South Carolina State Show where he won the Overall Title.
Pro bodybuilder
By this time, Cedric was up to 245 pounds and ripped, which allowed him to dominate the heavyweight categories in small competitions. He won the NPC Junior USA Championships and NPC National Championships, in 2008 and 2009. The next year, he got 4th at the Europa Dallas Pro. Here is a video of him in 2013 training arms.
He would win the Europa Orlando Pro, New York Pro, and FIBO Power Germany over the next several years before placing 13th place at the 2013 Mr. Olympia. His other Mr. Olympia finishes were 12th in 2014, 7th in 2016, 10th in 2017, 9th in 2018, and 7th in 2019.
He also got to meet and spend a lot of time with his childhood hero Arnold Schwarzenegger at the Arnold Classic competitions. He got 6th in 2013, 3rd in 2014, 4th in 2015, 2nd in 2016
1st in 2017
3rd in 2018, and 3rd in 2019.
He also won the Golden State Pro in 2015, the Kevin Levrone Classic in 2016, Fitparade Hungary Pro Grand Prix, and the Romania Muscle Fest in 2019.

Health problems
Cedric had to withdraw from competitions starting in 2021 due to health issues. He sat down for an interview in late 2021 to talk about his problems.
He says he developed COVID-19 after the Arnold Classic in 2020 and recovered from it. Then months later he started to get breathing issues and after going to the hospital they diagnosed him with pneumonia. It was so bad that he almost died and they had to put him on life support.
He admits that being over 300 pounds as a pro bodybuilder did his body no favors when it comes to recovering from a sickness. All this was complicated by his previous COVID-19 experience, and led to fluid buildup in his lungs, and the hospital even called his family to inform them that he would likely pass away. He was able to recover and went home from the hospital but took time off from bodybuilding. A year later he planned to compete at the 2022 Arnold Classic South America and laid out his comeback plan.
Social Media
Cedric has almost 600K followers on Instagram
He also has done a lot of videos and was quite the character. He always seemed to have a smile on his face and was fun to be around according to everyone. One of our favorite videos of him was his blindfolded posing at the Arnold Classic 2019. Cedric was the kind of person who enjoyed life and never took himself too seriously.
Death
Cedric posted a video updating his health on February 28, 2022.
He said he wanted to clear up a lot of rumors that were being said about him. Since October, he was having issues keeping food and water down. The doctor told him to not do the show but he was stubborn, so he stuck to doing a liquid diet of soup and weight gainers to keep his weight up. He also showed all the medications he was on and said the one he was taking for stomach ulcers seemed to help him. He decided to not do the show after all, and considered retirement, but he loves bodybuilding and feels like he has to prove himself to others.
On April 12, 2022, Cedric passed away. Very early reports are that it was a heart attack while he was on a treadmill.
Kai Greene, who was one of his main rivals, posted an Instagram post giving his blessings.
Opinion
Cedric was an awesome bodybuilder, and more important awesome human being, and it is sad we lost him. The only people with anything negative to say about him have zero sense of humor and are the types who don't know how to have fun in life. Cedric truly loved bodybuilding and wanted to push himself hard to make his fans happy. He also took time away from his life and family to actually serve in the military, instead of yapping his mouth like so many in the bodybuilding industry who are ‘fake patriots’.
Steroid Cycle
A lot of people have asked how Cedric got away with using steroids while in the military, and the truth is the military doesn't test for steroids in most cases, just recreational drugs. Let's take a look at what Cedric could have used ahead of his Arnold Classic victory.
