400 grams of protein

I'm going to start my first cycle 600mg a week. I read that I need 2g per lb of protein on gear to maximize gains. Do I really need that amount?

In a word - no. To do science any justice one rarely uses a single source as proof. And the evidence that suggests less is a LOT more.

Do we (lifters etc) need more than a starving bod or the average Joe - sure. But not nearly 3x. Try around 200 (for you weighing 200lbs) and add a little more for the weight you wanna be after the next cycle.
 
people will fight and argue about this to no end... so keep that in mind... the 2 lb theory was a lot more popular like 10 years ago as opposed to now, where the consensus more so is 1 -1.5... ive always done my personal best with 1.5.. just like anything else, you dont want to over do it but you also want to get more than an "adequate" amount when it comes to muscle building... its really a trial and error type of thing to see what works best for you

if you not spamming, 2 grams of protein per lb is something you do need

and if you doing a cycle make sure you log it

the science on weightlifters is much lower than people think. .6-.75g. so 200 pound man needs 120g per day on AVERAGE.

the american diet already gets plenty of protein, what it lacks is other things like good fats, vitamins and minerals
 
Its a waste youre just gonna pee it all out!
 
When I was at 200, I was making sure I hit 300 protein a day, but usually went a bit over. Try and focus on protein through food if you can then make the remainder up in powder. I see people mentioned to do a log, looking forward to looking at your process and good luck!
