Convince me to keep squatting

I'm in your same boat at almost 48. I always loved and gravitated to compound movement, powerlifting type exercises. With degeneration catching up and longer recovery times, now not so much. I rarely squat now, when I do it is more of a low/midweight higher rep thing than an ass almost to calves big weight movement. I still deadlift (not as much, but still. . .) and I work other things in to take the place of squats. I miss it. In the same respect, getting older has also driven home the point that when I was younger I was a classic hard gaining overtrainer. Sometimes less is more.
