Home fix it type of peoples...

Any idea on why a gas/forced hot water heater would be louder today than yesterday. Sounded this morning like a friggin jet going over head. Usually was a tad bit noisy, nothing too bad. However, I can hear it over my television?

Guess I better have someone come take a look, but I at least want to be able to have some thing a little more intelligent to say than "It sounds kinda like a Jet flying over head"...

Make sure its not leaking, just to rule out loose fittings.

As far as I know it is not leaking. I was downstairs this morning and everything looks dry.

the jets are clogged.. have you been running it long?? deposits cause the thinning of the gas access points, they need to be cleaned or replaced..

if you have a maintenance contract with the utility company they will do this for you..

you do have a carbon monoxide poison detector in your home don't you??

sorry N.. she'll be freaked out for the rest of the night now..

Angel, if you are worried, just leave a window very slightly cracked at the top and you'll be fine..

    good luck,

How old is it? Is it draining or clearing water out, evacuating? And are you sure its not the water softener (if you have one that is...)

You can buy sediment dissolver if need be.

Is it a loud banging noise?

Does it sound like a machine or fan blower?

    Ok

I have plenty of ventilation in this house. LOLOLOLOl. Let's leave it at that..Smoke detectors well about 2 in every room. Carbon detectors about 6 in total in this house. Teehee. The basement is well ventilated. It is an old basement, looks as though it was once a dirt cellar that the owner decided to lay cement down upon. Yes, it has a lovely sump pump in it and plenty of windows. I am freaking out, obviously. I am not happy. Haven't been.

No loud banging or clanging. Just like a loud fan/ jet sound. I have opened the basement door and stood there, but too many spiders in the basement YUCKY...I hate it down there and only go down to check my pump (if I have to).

It is a new system all new gas lines everything as of 2008. This is a newer version water heater, something I am not familiar with. IDK. It continues to heat the water while it runs so I never run out and the tank is TINY. It is a weird set up. I spoke to my brother and he said maybe a vent is clogged but again he is not familiar with it either.

I prob will not be able to sleep tonight. I have anxiety. What if my house blows up????
