What is more toxic to your liver a 17-aa oral steroid, or Accutane?I heard Accutane is twice as toxic, but why would they keep you on it for 6 months? Thanks for any comments/replies.

I think the word toxic is a bit steep.. anything that is liver toxic would be something like Mercury, or things of that nature. Lol.
That word is throwing around a little bit too heavy.
In regards to things being taxing on the liver, it basically comes down to the individual.. I was on a very aggressive treatment of accutane for 6 months my dosage peeked out at 120mgs.. everything checked out fine on my blood work every month, of course certain markers were out of range, it was nothing to be alarmed about, and the professional said I was exactly where I should be considering.. now I do not recommend this but unbeknownst to them I was also using oral AAS, I would never recommend that to anyone. I made that clear conscious decision because I was getting blood work regularly.. I'm sure I can pull up a spreadsheet AB 7 months worth..
There was people that take multiple and sometimes a half a dozen or more medications at one time because of diseases or illnesses or other underlining predispositions, and their blood work can be absolutely trifling.
I'm not minimizing the fact that orals/AAS does not stress the liver, it basically comes down to being a mature minded adult and given yourself ample time off to recover..
A lot of stuff that you hear about accutane when you read through Google is a lot of Internet crybabies, people are more inclined to post about negative feedback rather than their success...
you can go on message boards that are catered around acne and skin conditions, and you can read a lot of success stories that includes blood work that proves the accutane is not the monster or beast that is made out to be.. it is to be respected and only used on there the supervision of professionals.. it's like anything else in life, some people get violently ill with explosive diarrhea from antibiotics, and some people don't.. there is good and bad and pros and cons..

The final effects of their hepatoxicity are really going to depend on the dosage, length of use, and the individual themself.
Too much water will kill you. Unlike when we take roids your numbers are being looked at when you're on other drugs docs give you (or should be).

accutane is super harsh. i don't recommend you go down that route until you have truly exhausted all natural remedies. acne really really sucks and i feel for those who have it so if that is your only option then so be it but try natural first

when under supervision its safe.. a dr will pull you off or lower the dose if red flags pop up.. when using accutane ALWAYS use it under thr care of a dr because they WILL PULL BLOODS, like every 3-4 weeks..
these guys are specialists..
some people that are healthy as all can be get pulled off of accutane at low dosages.. its a case to case basis... love the water analogy..

its all about how you do it etc... as pointed out, with accutane, a doctor should be monitoring and this would all be under control... with oral steroids, you need protection while using them to at least mitigate the damage... dga organ st would have you covered here... https://www.amazon.com/DGA-Nutraceut.../dp/B0762B5KBG
I'm not sure but a doctor will monitor blood work for Accutane and determine if it's safe to continue. Accutane is a last course of treatment for really bad acne where the treatment is worth the risk.
Running accutane the least of my concerns would be my liver...
Accutane is like Russian roulette with Ur brain.
Many many people including myself have suffered for years after treatment, including crippling anxiety and depression that was non existant before accutane use.
The leaflet even says side effects may be permanent.
Below I copied and pasted some info.
Iv put a lot of shit in my body... Ridiculous amounts of hi dose lsd with flashbacks, xtc, meth, coke, u name it. And the worst thing iv ever put in my body was accutane by about 1000.
So be warned...
Yeh u might be lucky, but I'd much rather have my 2 years of full blown flashbacks and constant hallucinations back than have to endure what accutane left me with.
RESULTS: Isotretinoin but not antibiotic treatment was associated with decreased brain metabolism in the orbitofrontal cortex (-21% change versus 2% change for antibiotic), a brain area known to mediate symptoms of depression.
CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that isotretinoin treatment is associated with changes in brain functioning.
