    Noob question re: test injections

Hey guys, first time injecting test (into the upper thigh). Scenario:

I've drawn up 1ml of 300mg/ml test e and cleared the syringe of bubbles. I've then injected into my thigh. I've been told to slightly pull back on the syringe once the needle is in to check I haven't hit a nerve. If I have hit a nerve, I should see a little bit of blood in the syringe. But when I pull back on the syringe, it creates a new bubble in the barrel.

Is this normal? I thought I was meant to clear the syringe of bubbles prior to injecting, so why do I end up with a bubble when pulling back on the syringe (as a safety precaution)?

Noob question I know ó just hard to Google this one and want to be sure I'm doing everything right.

    Thank you.

You are aspirating. I donít recommend doing that. Itís an unnecessary extra step that does more harm than good.

Steve is correct of course. No need to aspirate.

Thank you for the clarification. I had initially confused aspirating to mean actually injecting into a vein/vessel, as opposed to this process of pulling on the syringe to check.

Iíve done some more research and can see it is not required for thigh injections, so
Iíll give it a miss moving forward.

    Thanks

Aspirating is an outdated part of injecting. They stopped teaching nurses to do it years ago.

Are you clearing the air until you see a little drip down the syringe? It could be youíre clearing the plunger but leaving a bit of air in the needle. Itís also good to see the drip down the needle to lubricate it
