Is it possible to train without rest days while on steroids?

I was just wondering here. If steroids give such a strong boost to recovery, why do we even need to take days off when we cycle steroids? In any case we should be able to recover fast enough, and workout every day? So, how many rest days to you take per week?

Steroids increase recovery, but they also make you stronger and more aggressive in the gym so your workouts are more demanding on your body and harder to recover from. The workout split I am following in my pre-contest training log is pretty much MAX: http://www.evolutionary.org/forums/a...log-40720.html

Anymore then that, you really won't be able to recover (except for the few genetic freaks). After 3 consecutive days of hard training, I would take 1 day where you at least only do cardio and abs.

Remember that steroids increase the speed that your muscles recover, but not the speed that your central nervous system recovers.

it would depend on how hard you go. if you go everyday at 90% then lifting weights everyday is foolish.. your body will break down (ya ya i'm sure the younger guys will disagree, but wait till you hit 30 or 35 or 40 then get back to me)

it would be like a runner who does interval sprint training everday. his legs will breakdown and he will start getting problems.

you can go hard but if you do then you need to take a break to allow your body to recover. there is an art to it. do you see pro athletes go hard everyday? do you see NFL players during the season in full pads everyday? no.. they play their game sunday.. rest on Monday. Tuesday have a light practice. etc etc. they have 1 padded practice during the week. its been proven that if you pound your team into the ground by the time you get to week 12 they will be done. its about training SMART and keeping your body conditioned and fresh

yes you could train 7 days a week if you wanted. But I would only be doing light weight volume training. And not until the point of failure. If you push the limits too far everyday you will crash and burn

As stevesmi said tho it depends on how hard you go. Its not the muscles that need the recovery when going hard all the time. Its your central nervous system. Always take a day off from everything to allow this to rest and recover if lifting heavy.

I could personally not train that much. I generally take 1 day completely off and 1 day of just cardio and abs per week. The other 5 days I lift hard and heavy. Just listen to your body.

My training consists of 5 hard days....2 of which are legs & 2 days of cardio and abs. Right now I am on day 12 straight......I'm feeling it. I plan to take Sunday completely off this week.

Having said that...I do feel that how you eat, cycle your carbs, cheat, refeed etc definitely comes into play here in a big way.

I think that being on steriods definitely helps with recovery but like stated above....when your on even if your only lifting 10lbs more then your pb off steriods....it's still taxing on your body.

Listen to your body....it will tell you exactly what it needs.

Mine needs a slice of pizza at the moment...and that's EXACTLY what it will get.

Steroids definitely increase muscle recovery. Do keep in mind your body grows whilst resting. So ideally you would want 1 rest day .. But also could come down to your training, not being as intense as you'd require. I see many guys just cruise through gym workouts, really not applying themselves.

Charles Polquin had a protocol to find out when your body was starting to become over trained.
Before beginning the hard training, every day when you first wake up, take your heart rate, try to stay still, don't get up and go to the bathroom,
then take your heart rate, just do it as soon as your mind is not foggy. Write down the number. Do this for 7 days in a row, figure out the average heart rate
and write this down in your training log. After you start training hard, take your heart rate every 2 weeks or so, upon waking. If this new heart rate
is 5 beats or more then your pre-hard training heart rate, you are starting to over train, time to back off

What I have noticed is most guys can train hard for 5 weeks, then they need to take it more easy, for 3 weeks, then their ready for another 5 weeks, of hard training
You might want to check out some of Louie Simsion's and the west side barbell club info. About periodization. If your into powerlifting.
