Thursday Update Traps & Triceps
Wake up @ 200
Post Workout @ 197
I felt some androgen rage today. Felt energized but did not overdo it. Took my second dose of 200mg Test/150mg Deca/100mg Primo yesterday. I'm in the cycle now. Taper week this week.
Next week full dose...
CPAP Update:
I snore. I have had sleeping issues for at least a year. I get up every 1.5 to 2.5 hours. If I am tired enough I go write back to sleep.
Delta 8 gummies and Trazadone has not helped. I still seem to get up. Sleep apnea is breathing problem where air passage gets blocked and you wake up.
Not sure of it was neck exercises I did last year or the androgens causing my nasal hair to grow rampant.
My doctor had me run a home sleep test which diagnosed mild sleep apnea. That allows me to get a prescription for a CPAP machine.
You are supposed to have a prescription to get a CPAP machine. The doctor office faxes your prescription to a medical equipment provider. Aetna is my health care provider. The medical equipment provider sets up the machine and provides instructions. They program a recommend prescription setting. It is nice to see and try a variety of masks. A question is are you a mouth or nose breather. Do you wake up drooling -> mouth breather. I'm a nose breather. I also have quite a bit of facial hair so I knew I would need a nasal mask. A full mask or nose/mouth mask was not going to work unless I shave it off.
Nasal comes as pillow or plug. Plugs go up the nose, pillow rests comfortable under your nose. I felt like the plugs would be too uncomfortable. Talking to my friend at the gym that also has
sleep apnea, he suggested getting the pipe going out of the top of your head as opposed to the front or below. I may sleep on my back, but mostly sleep on my sides. Usually go from one side to another and back. Did not want the mask getting pulled off as I move around in bed.
The insurance coverage for this is interesting. My deductible is 3K. I've only spent $280 so far and it re-ups May 1st. So it is out of pocket, but at insurance negotiated rates.
If you google what I got, it is around $1100 to $1200 for the equipment. The at home sleep test is another $150 or so.
Thru insurance it is
$309 up front
You have to rent the equipment for 10 months @ $42 monthly, you own if afterwards.
It does work out cheaper this way, the reason for this is the insurance wants to make sure you are using it.
In fact they have access to the sleep data as well as your doctor. If you don't use it, you will be billed full retail price.
I told the technician I would use it on Friday night and she said you need to use it sooner as insurance will be monitoring for compliance.
She suggested I watch television or do some pre-bed activities on it to get used to it.
There is an app and website to set up and account. The unit communicates data via bluetooth to your phone app. It monitors you usage and sleep quality.
No subscription fee or anything for the software.
Here's my machine, ResMed AutoSense 11, Heated Pipe, Overhead nasal pillow mask, Travel Bag, 3 month supply of filters, nasal pillow attachment.
So what can I say about it so far. The mask is ok, I don't think it is too intrusive. You do smell the plastic in the mask.
The machine is basically forcing air into your lungs. The auto sense is supposed to tune into your breathing pattern.
When you breathe in it feels normal, when you breathe out you feel like you are going against the grain. There is an escape valve in the front of the nose pillow.
This CPAP has a humidifier which can be activated. It is a heated pipe too so you can feel it warm up the air. I felt my nostrils get a little dry after some usage.
I slept a few hours with it, it wasn't great or terrible. It is different. It will take some getting used to. I need to play around with the settings. I don't think it is set right for me. so, I will tweak
some settings over the next few days to see if it can be more effective for me.
That's the update for now.
Hoping for some sound sleep soon...
