Truth about prohormones...very interesting article...

Apparently the only difference between what are classified as "steroids" and "prohormones" is that steroids were initially manufactured and produced by drug companies whereas the "prohormones" never entered into production. Hundreds of steroids were made in the 1950s and 60s but most were never produced...basically discovered and abandoned. The prohormones of today are simply these abandoned steroids from the 50s and 60s produced by companies that dug up their structures from medical literature and started selling them...

They are legal because only steroids that were produced and sold became controlled substances. Since these were never sold, it didn't apply to them.

Very interesting article that talks about the comparisons between the two...and how many people are wrong in their thoughts about them...

Steroids are the actual hormone. PH's convert to the hormone in the body. PH's are to steroids like peptides are to GH in a sense.

This is not what the article says at all. Did you read the article? Not saying you are wrong, or that the article is right, this is the internet, so idk who to believe. lol

"Many of these compounds are legal to manufacture, sell, possess and ingest eliminating the legal problems associated with schedule III anabolic steroids. The typical definition of "prohormone" includes a steroidal molecule that has the opposite molecular structure to testosterone on either the 3a/b position or the 17b position. Testosterone has a ketone group on the 3 carbon and a hydroxyl on the 17b carbon. A steroid with modifications away from testosterone in one or both of these areas is commonly referred to as a "prohormone". These enzymatic changes occur with the body's bidirectional enzymes.[2][3]

A typical prohormone is intended to be a precursor of an anabolic steroid like testosterone, which is taken in order to boost the body’s available hormone supply. These precursors are intended to be converted to full, active hormones via an enzymatic process that occurs during metabolism, typically resulting in the addition of whichever atoms happen to be missing from the chemical structure of the compound."

Again from an internet source, so choose to believe what you want lol..

Actually I should have read the article title...

It's OTC "Designer Steroids" vs. Regular Steroids...

These designer steroids are steroids that were created but never brought to market, which is the only difference

So, is Oxandrovar considered an OTC designer steroid?

No its a PH since it requires enzymatic conversion...designer steroids are steroids that are orally active, no different from anavar, dbol or winny other than pharmaceutical companies never produced and sold them.

Right on. Superdrol is one too. It is essentially oral masteron.

This.....that is how they get around the legalities. It is TECHNICALY NOT A STEROID IN PROHORMONE FORM. but....when ingested and passed through the stomach, it is CONVERTED INTO AN ANBOLIC STEROID. So....not a steroid (therfore legal) but turns into a steroid....so....A STEROID IN EFFECT. Kinda fucked how the law works huh. I wonder if this is the same with certain foods that turn into poison.

Actually designer steroids are actual steroids. The ban only covered steroids that were produced and sold by drug companies. So what did they do? Dug up the hundreds of other steroids that had been produced but never sold, and chose the ones that were tolerable and had the most bang for the buck to them---ones with similar properties to the steroids that were sold... Like Epistane...

There is no difference between designer steroids and "real steroids" other than one thing:

Banned steroids were produced and sold, legal designer steroids were produced and abandoned. Many times by the same companies. Saying something like Epistane is not a "real steroid" is the same as saying Winstrol, Anavar or DBol are not "real steroids"

Yes, and no. Some of the compounds in the formula require conversion, and some are designer steroids like Epistane which require no conversion
RickRock is right and it's amazing how many of these legal compounds are active and require no conversion. Mechabol (methylclostebol), msten, dmz, and cyanostane are a few (epistane was already mentioned). There are some pretty powerful ph's, or pro-steroids rather, available that are still legal.

The active compounds requiring no conversions are steroids that aren't covered by the ban
