You Want Proof? You GOT it!

I was hoping to have an interesting debate regarding fasting. I'm against it and I was ready to explain my rationale. And sure, i used a provocative thread to get attention. It worked!

Sadly, it degraded into being insulted, disparaged and disrespected. Which is fine. I'm used to it. People can't stand being proven wrong and I've proven a lot of people wrong. But what's even worse, it became apparent that it was going to become another boring "I HAVE STUDIES" argument. Man, I hate that shit. Studies are refuted, discredited and debunked all the time and I don't think anyone wants to hear a five page study read on air to check on its credibility and it's interpretation. But alas...that's the message board mentality.

So in an effort to avoid any further nonsense, here ya go. Plenty of studies that support my point of view. And they're still missing a few things. But it goes to show that the consensus is not unanimous.

That's for starters. There's more, but you don't need me for that. I do have a bodybuilding perspective that isn't addressed in any of these studies. My point is, can we stop with the notion that just because somebody else published something that it holds a special credence.

This is a topic that can be viewed in a lot of ways. I have mine. Others have theres. I was willing to present that. (And I will, with my article) But I'm tired of having to defend myself from the very people I'm trying to help.

come on the podcast and let's go through each of those articles.

I've never seen someone get so butthurt over some random youtuber posting something. good gosh Nelson do you need a therapist? I can help you man.

Still gotta be a jerk, eh? Okay, whatever.

I'm not butt hurt bro. But I did a foolish thing. I tried to make sense to people who either don't want it or cant comprehend it.

There is some good scientific evidence suggesting that circadian rhythm fasting, ...... can be a particularly effective approach to weight loss, especially for people at risk for diabetes.

bro here is in the footer of the same harvard study...

Settle down booster. Ever hear of the saying "there's more than one way to skin a cat"?

I don't have studies to show but I can say fasting has worked for me. It has worked for cutting with minimal to no muscle loss and while maybe a bit more challenging, it has worked for bulking. I have put on weight and lean muscle while implementing daily intermittent fasting and regular 24-48 hour fasts. I have hit PRs while doing IF and actually training in a fasted state.

No, I am not a professional bodybuilder but I have seen successful pros who fast. I am far from a newbie and I'm not some couch potato who is 50 lbs overweight. I have been training for years and fasting has gotten me in the best shape and probably best health of my life.

Can you frequently fast for weeks or months at a time and be a bodybuilder? Probably not...but it is pretty closed minded to say outright that fasting doesn't work and it is the worst thing a bodybuilder can do.

Fasting has worked for so many... ive had so many clients that have flat out asked me to design it for them without even wanting my thoughts, just being set on it and its worked FAR more than it hasn't... clearly, diets are subjective person to person, but i can one million percent guarantee that it indeed does work... i could see a million studies on something that can sway one way or the other... anyone can skew control groups in ways that will support their argument.. i give a shit about seeing things with my own two eyes, over and over and THAT confirms it for me... people get really really good about skewing shit how they want with verbage and rhetoric but real life results tell all... ive seen enough to know that it definitely does work, but being in the training/nutrition/coaching field going on two decades, you do see it all and there are always exceptions to anything and everything...

Buuuuuuuut you have never been wrong it seems?

Thats the point this is YOUR VIEW, some people will agree others will not and thats the point of a healthy debate. The issue is if anyone tries to debate with you you shut down and think people are straight up attacking you for now reason. No just posing an alternative view.

You obviously know a lot you have competed and are in fantastic shape so lead in with that and your experiences. Articles/studies do nothing for me you stated in your own posts they can be skewed and manipulated for a specific agenda or desired pre-determined outcome. Pull any useful statistics or information out of them and move on.

Im in for your client stories, your stories and methods, etc.

It is all goal dependent. For me, fasting has been amazing as it has helped me get into the best shape of my life. Now, if I wanted to get huge or even just be a bodybuilder, I would likely not apply fasting at certain times.
