Real talk: If what you are reporting is correct, you are in like a 2000 calorie deficit, so absent consistent Dexa scans, you are probably losing fat quickly, but not putting on muscle. It’s just not the way bodies work. As far as reseeding, you have a lot of energy to supply from your stored resources. If, and it is a big if, keto makes you better at burning your own fat by ingesting fat, then your ketogenic/lipolytic pathway should be becoming more efficient, and you shouldn’t need to eat Doritos to keep up your energy.
I’m not sure the duration somebody can stay in such a large deficit, but if you are going to do so, and want to preserve, much less grow, muscle, you need to concentrate on getting your protein intake up.

Body is extremely sore and tired from the mountain my wife and I climbed this weekend. Burned over 8000 calories on Saturday while eating about 2200 calories. Have been in a massive calorie deficit everyday for weeks. Ate lots of fruit on Friday and Saturday as I need to give myself nutrients when I am killing my body. I know my body and how it responds to extreme stress. Still packing on muscle while fat is melting away. I figure about 2 lbs of lean mass per week is going on while fat is melting at about the same rate. Keto is the only diet I know that will pack the muscle on while in a massive deficit. Of course you have to be a long way from your peak muscle mass you used to carry which is going on here. I figure I have another 30 lbs of lean muscle weight until I hit a peak. Will take a couple years but I will get there. Will most likely start using HGH around Christmas time and then go off the keto diet. Until then just small amounts of test and EQ and then switching out the EQ for Anavar. Amazing how it feels being off the juice for 20 years and then going back on again. Feels almost as good as the first time while using 5X less. Ive gone as high as 2 grams per week in late 90's with little to no side effects.

As I said, without a Dexa, there is no reason to believe this. It’s basically impossible. Keto doesn’t create the conditions for this, at all. It’s just science
I’m not trying to be a dick, I just think it is important to be as realistic as possible with what is going on, so without a way to properly assess fat percentage, you kind of have to assume that things are are usual, not extraordinary.

Unlikely your body will be willing to lose four pounds of fat a week. It’s pretty damn unsustainable at any body fat percentage. At your weight, three pounds of fat loss a week is about the max healthy you can hope for.

Had an MRI today so didnt do much of anything at gym except stretching and training the wife along with 30 minutes cardio on the treadmill with a 6 incline and 3.2 speed.
Meal 1)Steak Sandwich+bottle of sugarfree gatoraide, 5000mg Omega3, handful of herbs and vits
Meal 2) Bacon Cheesburger with keto bread, half bag spinach, 5000mg Omega3, more herbs and vits.
Hopefully my shoulder feels better tomorrow so I can do the leg press heavy. My shoulder always pops when I do heavy leg presses from holding on so tight.

Today felt like hell. My body is still massively sore and bruised up from the hike last weekend. Legs were still extremely wornout. Started using my SBD knee sleeves as I feel its time to do it. This week also is the week we change to 3 day split heavy followed by 3 day split easy. 6 days on 1 day off. Also doing 20 hours of fasting everyday. Food is hard to consume above 1500 cals. In about 3 weeks my wife and I plan on going 1 meal per day when she gets home from work after 8 p.m. So this will basically be 23.5 hours of fasting everday. I doubt I will be able to consume more than 1000 calories everyday in 1 meal unless I drink butter. Hopefully my body adjusts to it.

Heck I cant even consume 1500 calories anymore. I am full before I finish a 750 cal meal after 20 hours fasting. Anyone have any ideas what I can do in order to consume enough before I go major catabolic?
This entire thing is a major adjustment for me and my wife. We will take our time getting the final toxic foods out of the diet. I cant go perfect as I have no money on the line to do so. If I was being paid to go 100% clean I would consider it. I am still in better health now than before I joined this board. Thanks for the advice.

I think I am down 7 lbs in just over 13 days.
well one thing people can get out of this log is that fasting works wonders. and as you said, you are full when you fast so easily vs. eating early in the day and then eating every 2 hours cause of cravings and habit.
what I wanted to happen to you is happening and now you are losing a very consistent and safe 1/2 pound per day and getting a ton of health benefits.
as far as the whole catabolic thing, i'm not sure what you mean by that. when you lose mass its catabolic, when you gain mass it is anabolic. the mass you are losing is body fat and water, you won't lose an ounce of muscle tissue when you fast until you get to 2-3% body fat. then your body starts to go after actual muscle. as i explained earlier in the thread you will lose strength in the process, atleast initially, there is no way to prevent that. but you will look more muscular and more healthy. i think you should embrace the changes and be happy here. listen to your body, don't forcefeed your body and don't throw more calories at your body just to fit your 'caloric requirements'.. don't even worry about it. at worse just eat another meal in your window, fruit would be good. watermelon is a great idea to beat the summer heat .. i'm actually very impressed with the progress you have made so far and proud of you. keep it going
Fruit is one thing I have been trying to avoid while being in ketosis. I keep forgetting that your allowed to have like 50 grams of carbs per day on keto. Would I be fine eating say 30 grams of carbs from fruit during this 4 hour window then? I guess I got to keep it tight as I will be getting some carbs from my asparagus on other various things.
You and Steve have completely different diets and lifestyles and goals.
You're in ketosis on a ketogenic diet trying to shed bodyfat, and he's trying to go for longevity, that's night and day.
You should NOT eat fruit on a ketogenic diet and you should keep carbs under 20-30 grams max. And fruits will fill up liver glycogen (fructose) and kick you out of ketosis.
Stay very low carb and with meat mainly, carnivore style.
Meal 2 change to burger patty with slice cheddar and 2 Fairlife protein drinks. Decided to skip the mayo and keto bun and get the extra protein my body is starving for.
You need healthy fats in there too, add more omega 3 fats with each meal, fish oil is fine, add add walnut oil or olive oil to keep fat balanced with protein. Too high protein with low fat will kick you out of ketosis because protein converts to glucose (~54%) when no fats/fibers present.
Going to make another big change today. Going to stop the Franz keto bread. I think it is causing massive bloating. Didnt realize how bad that shit is for your gut. Sooner or later I will be full on carnivore.
"Keto food" often has additives that can indeed screw your gut(lecithin,sugar alcohols, xantham gum, xylitol). My former MIL would make a bunch of keto food and I would feel super shitty until I realized she was replacing "real ingredients".
You should notice a difference super quickly.
Are you allowed to add things like flax seeds and chia in keto. These are very helpful for your gut processes. If not, where are you supposed to get your fiber needs taken care of?
You can mix it with boiling water and make a porridge just like oatmeal, then add protein powder and almond butter and you will have something with a lot of calories that is both healthy and really easy to get down.

Would I be better off using mayo made with olive oil instead of soybean oil?
Have you thought of adding injectable l-carnitine to your regimen. It has no side effects to speak of, and is very good at helping to mobilize your fat stores for energy. Might work well in conjunction with a keto diet. Only downside is more injections.

Almond flour is good. Works well for many things for those who do not like carbs. I prefer chickpea flour, because I like carbs, just healthy ones.
