Veteran Log Why fasting helps you live longer, helps build more muscle. and my prolong fast LOG

fasted workout today was push

started with some dynamic stretching and warming up the shoulder
did some monkey bars
then moved to flat bench
then did pushups
then did some hammer pushes
after worked on the triceps with some rope pulldowns and overheard rope extensions
finished with weighted decline situps as I almost always do (gotta work those AAAAAABBBBBBBZZZZZZ)

weight training volume is lower then other logs but it is what it is. i'm not looking to prove anything to anyone out there. :) just lookin to look good and stay healthy.

after that i stretched entire body

left gym and cardio was about 45 minutes.

half eaten Lunch since the first pic didn't upload correct. ate this around noon. will eat in a 4 hour window today

@stevesmi thats a good training day i like the push ups , not many guys have it in logs but i wish more guys would straight push up
im up to 100 push ups per sets now , started my size at 30 only
clean meal love it steve greatest fasting log :)

Food is definitely looking good

what is that red fruit in the picture?

this is going to be an Epic log

nice job on the fasting every day keep it up

So stick to 3 day splits

had a damn good leg workout
then yesterday hit push
tomorrow will be my favorite day which is pull and will be able to get some of those var pumps hopefully to my biceps

good news to announce, i booked another fishing trip for later this month. will be the last chance to fish offshore before the hell of summer hits and it becomes too unbearable. will be sure to post up some fish pics hopefully of a good day for a change

today's menu:

grassfed burger, bbq'd 4 large ones yesterday night
topped with lettuce
using a special keto bread made from just eggs as my bun
also topped with FODY ketchup and coconut yogurt.
and homemade guac.

you don't need to be scared of burgers. they are perfectly healthy when made at home and with proper ingredients.

Also various fruits. I’m a big fan of fruits especially this time of year

Whole Foods has bread options. Base culture and unbun are good breads

keep up the good work and keep the grind

busting out all those podcasts and still finding time for the gym that's impressive

you are doing a great job

food looks fantastic

How’s the bread taste?

How’s the bread taste?
i think people who are used to white bread will probably think they are eating something completely different. but i like it and it doesn't bother my stomach or bloat me. i haven't touched conventional bread in years and its a huge no-no so this is a great option for many

so i got a call today from a buddy who is driving up to me and we are gonna hit the bicycle trails this weekend. its gonna be EPIC! lots of cardio and hills.. a very advanced bicycle course which will murder my legs. I will fast 24 hours and then do the trail and eat after. will be a nice fasted carido session to burn off some fat

the best cardio is FUN CARDIO. people hate cardio because they are doing boring cardio like treadmill in the gym. I would shoot myself if I had to do that every day because it's boring as health to stand there like a hamster and walk on a moving treadmill while watching the trash they have on TV at the gym.
get out there and enjoy nature and have fun with cardio it will not even be noticeable that you're doing it and an hour will fly by before you know it and just like that you will have done an hour of fasted cardio.

@stevesmi awesome diet steve.......

so some updates:

today was push day, 2 days ago was legs

shoulder warm ups with 5lb weight circles and dynamic stretching
8 sets on flat bench + warmup with just the bar
3 sets on machine press
6+ sets of tricep push until failure
notice i do not do anything overhead or incline, its always flat. thats not an accident, it is to keep my shoulders healthy
post workout full stretching
then went shopping and got some errands down around the house
then did about 45 minutes of cardio

fasting today was from 6pm last night till around 1pm today, so 19 hours. pretty standard for me. like to do 18-22 hour fasting daily.

this weekend is a 3 day prolong fast. this will likely be my last prolong fast of the summer. i want to break it a couple days ahead of my fishing trip as i expect to lose a solid 6 pounds of water on my trip as it will be 100+ heat on the water.

some tricks for off shore fishing to avoid getting sick from someone who suffers from seasickness

1. always keep your eyes on land so your brain doesn't get tricked
2. swallowing ginger root that morning and then sucking on it while on my trip
3. sips of water morning of, never over drinking and never eating prior to trip.

@stevesmi 19 hour fast thats impressive bro :) you going to do fasting as you're fishing?

Bro good job on the stretching, if you not stretching you leaving gains on the table and a lot of guys don’t do this

a nice workout Steve

good job on the warm-up and the stretching

you look in fantastic I bet you're starting to bulk up a little

You better catch some good fish this time or else we get to laugh at you

steve O you need to post up some more meal pics !

okay so here is my plans next few days

today pull day.. about to hit the gym in the next hour

plan on doing pullups, monkey bars
hitting the back hard with rows (not pulldowns), holding like i have a penny stuck to my back muscles.. really want to isolate them. then doing lower back roman chairs
curls of course, gonna go heavier on these. 60-80 pounds but then do lower weight and high rep to get a nice var pump
then the big one is i want to exhaust my abs bigtime, weighted angled situps to failure using 25/35 pound weights. atleast 5 sets of those
then cardio after
might get in a nap 1-2 hours today depending on how i feel (i have been sleeping good all week so don't know if i will need)

today i start another prolong fast for 48 hours. will break the fast with fruit on monday.

Meal is sirloin pastured, chicken organic, potatoes both regular and sweet

i've read that 33% of people are completely immune to it. 33% are iffy, and 33% are completely vulnerable. that is in a normal boat situation

but if its extremely rough, like you are out in the ocean during a bad storm on a boat that is rocking a lot then 80% of people will be screwed.

followed up 48 hour fasting with 6 hours of feeding then fasting for about 20 hours then leg day. then food, then fasting again ahead of fishing trip.

fishing was very good!

caught many meals. can anyone name the fish in the picture without cheating and looking it up?

Bingo. Dolphin fish aka mahi. Along with yellow tail snapper

had one of the best workouts today no clue why. ironically i had a mild headache and i only got about 6-7 hours of sleep last night. yet best workouts, isn't that funny how it works?
the week was busy between the holiday and my fishing trip and work, so i had to be creative and stack my push and pull into 1 workout otherwise the week would be over and i would be screwed. maybe that is why my workout was so damn good.

I did 4 sets of each exercise except for flat bench where i did 6 sets

warmup, dynamic stretching with bands to get should loose and warmed up

flat bench press
dips
monkey bars (1 set only)
pullups
tricep pulldowns
hanging pulls (some asshole or assholes were leaving their shit where i like to do my rows so i couldn't do them and they were nowhere to be seen so i moved on)
roman chairs
standing curls
curl machine with free weight (whatever the fuck you call it) with single arm and double
situps (6 sets)
stretching and yoga
crazy volume today and was in there a while, i actually broke a sweat which is rare i'm not much of a sweater when i weight train in AC

no cardio today!! this is the first day in a long time where i do no cardio. mobster and i had a very early podcast we recorded so it was literally wake up and take a dump and do the podcast within 10 minutes.

still fasting and its into the afternoon. i will break my fast with my fish dinner around 6pm. then will eat some fruit with it and almonds.
i will followup with pics of my fish dinner that i am cooking up in the pan if i can remember to take a pic before i eat it lol

also some good news this weekend (yes i know i have a sick life) but i am taking a trip into the country to visit a farm that sells fresh tropical fruit. its the best fresh off the trees and nothing like you eat from the supermarket. i will get some pics up of my trip since i know some of you are into that shit too

zaccass sent me another fasting study. this one is very recent and shows a lot of the stuff i was talking about earlier in the thread

it showed that brain cells were re-cycled and made better with fasting
it also showed that time restricted eating actually makes your meals more effective.

again both are simply evolutionary traits that we developed to survive and are things to tap into with fasting. link to study:

meal pic coming of sunday BBQ
gonna show how to make a healthy BBQ burger.. not sure why people think burgers are bad for you. a burger from a fast food joint or a restaurant sure, but a burger you make homemade with the right ingredients is perfectly healthy and nutritious.

so a little setback. post fishing trip noticing pain in my right leg. i hooked onto 2 huge sharks and fought them pretty hard until they broke the line with a rod not meant to catch sharks but meant to catch 15-20" fish. thought it was a hamstring pull, or a groin pull. no big deal those usually hurt a few days then heal up.. but after a few days now i realize its a sciattica, and the pain shooting down my leg is the pinched nerve. figured it out cause when you push on a certain spot lowerback/butt the pain shoots down my leg. feels like its in a vice! very hard to bend my leg or walk up stairs and if i make one wrong move the pain is absurd.

so only did push and pull this week, no legs. problem is even when i train upper body it gets aggravated more. pain gets worse in the evening and then subsides by morning. but if i don't let it rest it gets worse again. so this week i will have to rest it and stretch because i'm not gonna play its game anymore. i've applied ice and heat, and stretched, and did it all but not resting it is setting me back.

Sciatica is a bitch…. I’ve had hit a few years ago due to excessive long distance running hence why I stopped but it had me for well over a year it was actually quite debilitating not sure how sever yours is but morning were the worst for me just trying to get out of bed almost knocking me down to the floor. What I found really helped was walking and keeping myself warmed up at all times. I ended up seeing an orthopedic surgeon for it but the only thing they recommended was physical therapy and rest… 🤷🏽‍♂️

Gonna rest this week. Focused in on diet and stretching.

Here is lunch
