Good idea. I have a massage gunYou need to get one of those masssge mats you setup in your chair like I have. You also need to get a masssge gun. They work.
Gonna rest this week. Focused in on diet and stretching.
Here is lunch
where i live coconut trees are quite common. i will usually knock some down with a football or look for ones that have fallenEnjoy your rest week brotherdid you drink just the coconut water or did you eat it all?
@stevesmi I think most guys even super muscular need to fast at least 24 hours every week just to clean up the digestion to start broI got a message from a vet on here wanting me to go over some advice on fasting past 20 hours cause they have a hard time doing it
its a great question and i will give some tips
It's important to remember that unless you're 3% body fat and on the verge of starvation that you're not really hungry after 20 hours but what happens is your body and brain are playing tricks on you. we eat habitually.. for example when you watch TV you're attempted to stuff your face or if you're dealing through something with work we like to have snacks when we're working or in front of the TV or just when we're hanging out with friends. when it comes to being 'hungry' another big aspect is ghrelin which flutuates throughout the day. this 'hunger hormone' is actually an evolutionary trait found in animals that tells us 'go find food', it isn't actually saying 'go eat something'.
so simplest thing you can do if you are at 20 hours and your body/mind is screaming it wants food is go for a walk or keep your mind busy. You will find after 20 minutes the hunger magically goes away. another option you can do is drink a lot of water and add a pinch of salt and cream of tartar to it. this little electrolyte drink will help with the imbalance. however keep in mind if you keep throwing electrolytes at your body during a faster body will still throw that off anyway because it's normal to have a little electrolyte imbalance during a fast as we go into deep ketosis. i have found especially if i fast during hotter times of year that going for a drive works great. that is similar to a human going for a hunt looking for food and your brain will see lots of things and will be satisfied.
I've been fasting before and been so tempted to eat something, then I went to sleep and the next day I woke up with zero appetite. so it's important to take your fast overnight because once you hit the 20 hour mark That's where a lot of the benefits start kicking in as I mentioned earlier in this fasting log with the pictures i posted. things like autophagy, cell repair and deep detox will start happening so you don't want to leave those beneifts on the table
@stevesmi you got a shark encounter and no pics? come on broamazing what a week of fasting, rest, yoga, and nutrition can do for a person
a week ago i could barely walk up my stairs or get in/out of bed after my shark encounter fishing where it just about pulled me into the water and i was holding the rod for dear life for 30 minutes before it snapped my line.. absolutely wrecked my sciattica.
today i got out of bed with zero pain for the first time since my fishing trip.. did not take any aspirin at all and the pain is only there if i bend my leg inward. I will take 1 more day of fasting rest and targetted nutrition and then tomorrow i will do a push/pull workout and do some heavier stretching.

Lychee? These are the perfect options to break a fast. Can anyone name these fruits without cheating?
@stevesmi that some type of kiwi? These are the perfect options to break a fast. Can anyone name these fruits without cheating?
you got the red fruit. now let's see who can figure out the green fruit. hint: it grows in the tropics and well known in the Caribbean.Lychee?
@stevesmi Lychee is amazing....yes sad that they are only available for few weeks but they are worth the wait........you got the red fruit. now let's see who can figure out the green fruit. hint: it grows in the tropics and well known in the Caribbean.
Lychee and this other 'green fruit' which i will reveal later actually contain some amazing compounds that have been shown in studies to do so many things including help digestion, boost anti oxidants, immune system, help sleep, help mood, boost fiber/electrolyte/water intake and so much more. they also contain an insane amount of vitamins that we need to function correctly
bodybuilders need to stop being scared of fruit! they have a ton of benefits. Lychee is only in season for 3 weeks out of the year for me locally. so i go crazy on them and eat many pounds during that 3 weeks. they really make a difference in my sleep and energy.
@stevesmi gotta eat more bananas thats what I doyou got the red fruit. now let's see who can figure out the green fruit. hint: it grows in the tropics and well known in the Caribbean.

Who can name these fruits? lol bet you can’t besides the banana. anyone know the big fruit name and the brown fruit? if you do then you are a genius because 99.9% of people never even heard of them before. will give you all a few days to guess then reveal the names. hint: the big fruit actually tastes like bubble gum!

jackfruit, I gotta try it something I havent tried @stevesmithe brown fruit is sapodilla and the big one is called jackfruit
jackfruit tastes like bubble gum, its very chewy.. so you can pop it into your mouth and just chew it like you are eating bubble gum.. a lot of people will eat it raw that way, but some people will cook it and make it into a meal with BBQ sauce as a meat replacement. highly recommend you look for it and try it out its really awesome stuff
also the small green fruit from earlier with the lychees is called guenepa or mamoncillo. it is very sour while lychee is more sweet. highly recommend you try both if you ever travel to the caribbean or latin america
i think planet fitness i fineso big news from me lol. today was the first time i actually worked out at a planet fitness! i got in as a guest
I have to say I was actually impressed in some ways and dissapointed in others. Overall I give the gym a B and i will say the good and the bad, my current gym i go to gets a C+ so I am a tough grader
the good:
love the environment, its much more positive and happy of a place then other gyms i have been to.
much more % of females and the people are normal in general
they have A LOT of machines and they have plenty of dumbbels and pulley machines
i like that they have a stretching cage
water machine sofa was amazing, you lay on it for 10 minutes and it massages you (see pic)
it was amazingly CLEAN and people wipe and they had hand soap dispensers all over
equipment was in A+ shape, nothing was broken down. obviously the owners make sure they maintain the place unlike other gyms that leave equipment broken for weeks or months.
the bad:
place is pretty jammed which is complicated since people workout SLOW there vs. other gyms. proper etiquette is do your set, stand up and allow others to work in if the place is jammed. people there just sit in their spot and hog it up for 20 minutes straight.
no actual bench press or squat racks, just smith machine options which is a problem for me as i'm not a fan of that
way too many TV's, i mean they had like 30 TV's all over the place and the music was way too loud.. not a big deal but still i'm not there to tv watch
would not recommend if you are a powerlifter or like to lift heavy. but it is just fine if you like to circuit train or do high volume. they have a ton of different options and some cool stuff i haven't seen at other gyms. for example 4 different ab machines and 5 different situp benches that can be shaped and moved. you are lucky to have 1 or 2 at most other gyms.
could i work out there on a regular basis? sure but i would have to also have a squat rack and bench press at home cause those are important to me. but it is obvious why they are hammering their competition and putting other gyms out of business. i was actually quite impressed overall. i could use that massage thing after every workout lol. i can still feel its effects hours later! that alone is worth the $20 a month to be honest
i actually looked into the cost of one of those hydromassage things. you are looking at 5-10K plus maintenance costs. so hell yeah if you have to pay $20 or $25 a month it is well worth itI should get a membership just for the massage thing. I think its well worth it.

just make sure it is ripe BEFORE you cut it open. probably best to find it already cut because its a messy fruit to be having to cut whole.
@stevesmi Sticky part is something i don't like but the health benefits are amazing..........Jackfruit. Very sticky

@stevesmi stuffed grape leaves never had it broSo today is leg day (YAY).. did some hardcore bicycling yesterday in the HEAT. was sweating my balls off. had to stop twice for some water and was feeling the heat exhaustion sides. no matter how good a shape you are in the heat will eat you alive.
Before my bicycling I did a prep that will last me this entire week.
its stuffed grape leaves.. stuffed with beef, rice, parsley. it is a huge meal which required 7 cups of rice and 7 pounds of beef. the bottom of the pot also had a pound of steak, this prevents the leaves at the bottom from sticking/burning. the recipe also includes cinnamon, salt, black pepper and lemons.
rolling the leaves takes 1-2 hours on a meal like this and the actual cooking takes an hour+.. but as i said its a weeks worth of food so well worth it. traditionally you eat it with some raw yogurt, however since i do not consume dairy i am using coconut yogurt instead.
this is one of the most delicious dishes that I put together. It's a very popular dish in the Mediterranean region depending on different backgrounds and cultures because different ones use different ingredients.
It's an extremely nutritious meal full vitamins and minerals and also plenty of protein. home made dishes like this will never be replicated in any restaurant I don't care where you go!! you could hire the most expensive chef and they couldn't replicate it. tip: if you are going to make this type of dish get two or three friends to help you otherwise it will take you a long time lol.. i had 3 helpers so we got it done in a little over an hour. solo it would have taken me 4 hours
I'm not sure if all he did was ride a bike
yes leg day squats, lunges, extensions, calves and lots of stretching.
nice @stevesmi I believe the greek are big on there stuffed vine leaves? the way you do yours though looks much cleaner and better for you - higher protein too especially with the beef looks so good brother! can Imagine it would have been tedious work folding the vine leaves how you did sort of like a meditarian version of sushi? So today is leg day (YAY).. did some hardcore bicycling yesterday in the HEAT. was sweating my balls off. had to stop twice for some water and was feeling the heat exhaustion sides. no matter how good a shape you are in the heat will eat you alive.
