As people who are into weightlifting, bodybuilding, and powerlifting, we often forget the importance of stretching and maintaining mobility.
Supergirl does not, she understands that stretching and maintaining mobility is an essential part of any exercise program.
Here we see her in a variety of healthy positions which help her maintain joint mobility and which make all aspects of exercise and physical activity more functional and enjoyable:
1) As she stretches upward you can see a combination of spinal lengthening and shoulder mobility.
2) Conversely, bending straight over at the waist with proper form is essential for stretching the hamstring, the most overlooked part of the leg during lower body routines and also one of the easiest muscles to injure when under full load.
3) On knees with legs spread and stretching upward and combines hip mobility, spinal lengthening, and shoulder mobility.
4) In the same respect, the downward dog position not only maintains shoulder mobility but also helps mobilize the low back and hips. This particular stretch is even useful if done with a partner to assist.
5) Curling her body into a ball on the other hand helps mobilize the spine and the hips in the opposite direction, helping maintain the full spectrum of spinal and hip mobility.
Be like Supergirl, stretch to maintain longevity and health! It will pay dividends in the end.
