He lives in one of these rock houses with straw roofs
Probably less damp and warmer than mine lol

No. I've said earlier it's what you'd call a former Veterans Club

Paid for by me. I took a HUGE gamble (no loan or mortgage etc too) as it was still listed as a commercial building and I had to apply for a change of use. It had been empty 5 years (the club went bankrupt). It was super cheap (less than $50,000)
$50K? wow. you got a nice deal

Zero outside space. Like a tiny space at the bottom the outside fire escape and areas of flat roof. But no gardens or similar
Bros, that sucks. It'd be nice to have a little garden. My wife has a garden out back.

True. But there are Wetlands just a few minutes away.

The Randy Roach books are THE reference for me. Read 3x at least

One of the more 'out there', at the time in regards to PED talk was Mick Hart's magazine. He got a cease and desist letter from a porn rag cos the original name was Mick Harts Forum lol

Is that a French soldier with the beret?

Was it Penthouse Forum that sent the cease and desist?

It's meant to be Saddam Hussain and a WMD

I think so. Certainly one that had forum in the title. Those porn barons have bigger and deeper pockets than Mick did so he just change the name.

If you look at top left you'll see a 'Bull' with a Union Jack Bowler and flag draped over it's shoulder. A few of us, me having gone to Carnaby Street to buy them, turned up at Mick's dressed exactly like that bar one fella from Denmark how had a Viking helmet on. Then we had a few beers ha ha

LOL!!! Now that you explained it I see it. Makes it way better.

Any pics of you wearing the union jack as a cape with a horned bowler?

Long lost
Sounds like someone needs to some digging. Would be a great addition to library. A nice 3ft x 3ft framed version with some downlighting on it. Would make a real nice center piece for the collection

Lost as in on an old PC which I last saw 14 years ago.

My little collection of Iron Game History newsletters. The people who write here are arguably THE true historians. And the collection its based on, the Stark Collection as it is now called (based at the University of Texas) is probably THE best in the world.

As an aside to that. Joe Weider donated a total of $1m USD to them. Others more
Joe was an awesome guy :D

that’s insane in the best way lol… 8k mags + stuff going back to 1900 is legit museum level, respect.
any chance you’ve got a few “must read” issues/books you’d recommend for the newer guys? would love to see more pics as u add to it

I've a page on FB where I update it as stuff arrives.

For a proper no bs or bias background / history Muscle, Smoke and Mirrors (all 3 books) by Randy Roach and any by John D Fair

On training and esp high intensity most of Ellington Darden's books

Back in the day, just cos he wrote well, most stuff (inc in mags) by Rick Wayne (still alive)

I'm torn between 'how much?' when I see some prices and also thinking 'hot damn' at the value of what I have.

If I can I buy job lots - I've just bid on a batch of 9. Occasionally (and I have a load I should sell) it'll mean I'll find I have a double of something I already own but it's normally a nice way to save some bucks.

I also added what will be the last set of shelves for now.

Just a snapshot of some Health and Strength issues. Part of a large bunch all from 1959. Also in the last few weeks was a far more research type book by Jan Todd on women in Physical Culture from the late 1800s onwards

Now these are in great shape for their age! Hard to believe he could be that jacked in the 50's.

In one of my books circa 1930 (by Sandow I think) there's an Indian (from India) who is very much like a modern Indian Bodybuilder now. Tiny waist.

In the late 60's the late Vince Gironda was 20+ years ahead of his time being considered 'too ripped'. He'd place but not win as the bigger, bulkier but softer men placed higher

That athlete has a great physique for now many here would like

Amazing a magazine like that can survive from 1959 and still be in such good shape. Did they use different quality paper back then or something?

No. If anything, when we still had them, the paper for the front pages was better. That said less color on the older ones.

I've issues of H&S (as above) from 1932.

The oldest, also mentioned above, are 1900-1901. But they are in a bound cover. That cover is not the best but inside looks great. I'll try and take a pic of a page or two.

I guess it comes down to how a collector stores them. What I also do when I find I've doubles of an issue is keep the better one and toss the lesser onto my 'spares' pile (I oughta sell a few lol)

You're hoarding all the mags lol.

So just store in a nice dry place away from sunlight and they hold up that well eh. I would've thought naturally they'd just deteriorate because they'd be printed on cheaper paper compared to the books from back then.

1901 is insanse!!! Do you have to wear gloves when you handle it? I know I see that with old books...something about eh oils from our skin can break down the paper. I wonder if that one is printed on hemp paper
