Boys do you get flu shots?

vaccination for seasonal influenza is not nearly as effective as say polio vaccine, smallpox vaccine, or other commonly used vaccines. There is also plenty of data that questions the public health benefit of widespread vaccination for seasonal influenza.

    Common Cold

Some natural products to think about are zinc. Zinc lozenges have been shown to decrease the duration of a cold if used correctly. Vitamin C has been shown to decrease cold duration by 1 day at a dose of 1-3 grams/day with a dose dependent response. Echinacea is also possibly effective.

Flu Vaccine.. question about blood thinning..

You should be fine if nothing serious happened within 30 minutes of the shot. They're worried about if you're allergic to one of the ingredients. He asked if you were on thinners (warfarin) since the shot can impair the coagulation process. Ibuprofen should be ok since it is a reversible...

Whats some of the dumbest stuff you heard in the gym?

Just some things I've heard over the last couple weeks alone: "Protein shakes are bad for you" "You are too big, that is unhealthy" "Doing only weights is bad for your health" "gym is an unhealthy obsession" "weights are bad for your joints" Could go on all day with this...

    Modafinil use as a PED

It's a stimulant and sleep suppressant that also happens to suppress appetite. Pilots and truckers use it to stay awake. Perhaps the biggest benefit is that it may prevent you from becoming mentally tired at the gym and can longer sessions without losing focus.

What do you do when your gear is underdose??

Depends whats wrong with it. First I'd contact the source and try to get a refund/replacement. If I think its salvageable I'd filter it, otherwise if it's not worth the risk, I'd trash it.

    MLB Bryce Harper and Steroids

I don't think Harper is juicing. He has always had a crazy amount of strength. Teams would fly him into play as a 14 year old and he would drop absolute bombs. Also, he has a pretty big frame to start with.

Anderson Silva tests positive for Masteron

Reminds me of Adrian Peterson recovering from a torn acl in 8 months and rushing for the second most yards in league history. Ok.

Dylan Gemelli Daily Fun Poll: Day 5

RG3 got robbed. On a serious note, there was an outside chance for Brady and Romo, then I watched his last couple of games, and he threw absolute strikes to receivers while hobbling on one leg and I knew then nobody else really had a chance.

109 pass attempts from the 1 yard line this year....and that was the only pick. Talk about horrible timing.

    Xanax and cycling

As others have noted, Xanax (alprazolam) is a highly addictive drug that can produce paradoxical effects (rebound insomnia) and abrupt withdrawal may precipitate withdrawal symptoms, which can be nasty.

    Swallowed 240MCG CLEN by accident

Did he died? Would've been better to call poison control as activated charcoal only works so many hours after ingestion.

    Insulin cycle

Don't forget insulin comes in many different types, i.e. rapid (lispro), intermediate (NPH), etc.), each with their own caveats, including time of onset, peak, and duration. If you mess up the dosing, you can easily go into hypoglycemia while you're sleeping and be unaware of it, then go into a...

    albuterol sides

Taking beta-2 agonists chronically would lead to a decreased amount (downregulation) of beta-2 receptors and a decreased binding (desensitization) for these receptors over time. That said, tolerance to adverse effects (heart rate and hypokalemia) can develop since cardiac/skeletal muscles do...

    beta blockers and steroids?

It's perhaps for this reason the new hypertension guidelines do not recommend beta blockers as first line therapy, citing 1 trial that showed a higher rate of cardiovascular events with use of a beta blocker vs. another class of meds (ARB). For 1st line treatment, the guidelines recommend ACE...
