Almond Milk as an alternative to Cow's Milk in my protein shake.

    Hello guys,

I just want your options on Almond Milk as an alternative to cow's milk. I just like the taste better and I'm wondering if I will be missing out on any nutrients by using Almond Milk instead of cow's milk?

Two thing you are missing out on for sure is Lactose and Bovine Growth Hormone... And anti-biotics, so 3 things I guess.

In spite of the fact that you will be missing these three compounds, I don't think that this change in milk will affect you, or it least will not do so in a significant manner, since almond milk also has a lot to offer.

You may be missing out on a few things by not using dairy milk, but if you're eating a healthy diet of leafy greens, protein, whole grains and low fats you've got nothing to worry about. Tons of content out their on the fact that humans aren't even meant to drink milk, quite curious how a large number of the population can't even digest the stuff!

I have always found almond milk to be very over rated. There's not much to it. Very little protein, some healthy fats, not really any carbohydrates. I never really saw the appeal to it.

I personally don't include any dairy in my diet. Commercial dairy is FAR from healthy in my opinion. Raw unpasteruized dairy from grass fed cows is a completely different story, but it's hard to find and actually illegal in a lot of states/provinces.

Not including dairy in your daily diet won't harm you at all. You can keep using the almond milk if you choose. It is very low in calories and won't make much of a difference either way. Make sure you are supplementing with a calcium magnesium with vitamin D supplement, including lots of dark green vegetables into your daily diet and eating lots of fatty fish such as salmon (the two best food sources of calcium besides milk).

I still use whey isolate and casein shakes to get the high quality dairy proteins in my diet, but without any of the sugar or fat found in dairy.

the best milk to use is hemp milk. I also would suggest oat milk next. if you get almond milk get unsweetened of course.
