    fiber question

    rather than buying psyllium husk or other fiber supplements couldn't i just eat the excess fiber when i juice fruits at home? the dump tray holds a lot of fibrous stuff like pulp and pieces of the fruit that is usually wasted. the product is an extractor that you put fruit into and it spits out the juice on one end and fiber gets trapped.

    Just eat the whole fruit instead of juicing it. You will end up consuming a lot less sugar that way since you will only eat 1 piece of fruit instead of juicing multiple.

    Juicing actually defeats the purpose of getting fiber from fruit since it dissolves it to a liquid -- which is still good for elimination but fiber also clings to fat to help remove it. Also, non soluble fiber slightly irritates the intestines which also promotes elimination. Botton line, if you're having a decent bowel movement every day, you're fine. If not, it's time to do whatever it takes -- fruit, roughage, lots of water and then I'd take a fiber supplement like Psyllium.
