Glutamine recommendation?

Does anyone recommened additional glutamine in my pre or post workout shakes? My protein powder contains about 4 grams per scoop and I usually do 1 scoop before a workout and 1 or 2 scoops after. I met someone at the gym that drinks glutamine during his workout...is this something that I should do for muscle growth, or is it not necessary?
 
To be honest it's completely unnecessary. If would be incredibly odd if you didnt get enough in your diet already.
 
don't take a shake before or during a workout!

why are you making your body process that shake and deal with the stress from your workout? makes no sense. i am surprised you aren't throwing up during your workouts but that only means your workouts aren't that tough.
 
As most of users said, this is unecessary, but if you feel like your glutamine is low, get a check and see how to get it on normal state, but definitely not this way
