    Kidneys function

Just got some labs back. My bun levels were flagged as high. Im hoping due to high protein diet. Ive been cruising for about a month, maybe more. I was wondering what supplements may help for kidney repair improvement. L carnitine, grape seed, zinc? Anyone have any experience or advice. I did take down about 250+ grams protein 12 hours before test.

if you weight train consistently you will likely have elevated BUN levels.. that is normal. you are breaking down and repairing muscle tissue daily plus you are holding way more muscle than you should. i've had high BUN levels for 20+ years

if you want an accurate number stop lifting for 2-3 weeks then test again. your doctor is an idiot if he doesn't understand that
Now taking clients for 1 on 1 consults via skype. hit me up

Like Steve said it's nothing uncommon to see elevated BUN levels especially with hard training individuals who carry a lot more lean muscle mass than an average Joe. The same applies to blood CK levels as well.

The high-protein diet itself causes higher BUN levels because eating a lot of protein creates more protein turnover which leads to increased urea production.
