    Making gains

I am a college athlete and have hit a plateau in my weight gaining.I continue to get stronger but in order to succeed and stay healthy in my sport I could use some extra weight. I am 6'3'' and 185 pounds. I'm currently taking whey protein twice a day as an addition to my meals, roughly two scoops with some milk. For my post workouts I take the GNC Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60, three scoops worth. My overall diet is around 4500-5000 calories a day but I'm wondering if there is a better post or pre workout supplement that I could take to increase my gains from busting my ass day in and day out.

The larger you get the harder it will be to gain more for sure. I like to supplement whey protein isolate (more protein and less carbs) per serving except before bed when I use caseine. Obviously continue to eat more clean whole foods as well. As far as pre-workouts, I don't think they much contribute to gains as much as the marketing wants us to believe. Thay said, I make my own with beta-alanine, citrulline malate, bcaas, caffeine, tyrosine, and theanine.

you haven't hit your plateau man, you are just starting out!

you build muscle mass slowly over time, a guy your height i would set a goal to gain 3-4 pounds of muscle tissue PER YEAR. just slamming a bunch of protein powder isn't going to speed that up magically. you need to have a long term goal here. keep lifting the right way and the gains will come.

mobster and I have been lifting for like 50 years+ between us and we are STILL gaining at our ages. this is a marathon and not a sprint

Are you taking whey alone after working out?
If yes, you could try out adding some fast digesting carbs to it.

One of the reasons why you might have hard time eating enough is your protein intake, which I would assume is probably fairly high.
And as we know protein tends to be much more satiating than so my advice would be to try lowering that intake a little bit and replace with carbohydrates.

Are you sure you are getting 4500 to 5000 calories per day? Many overestimate the calories they consume. That is a lot of food. Are you tracking and measuring everything? Food is the key to getting the gains you are after

    I don't think a pre-workout is the answer
