Re read what I typed. I contacted him. I'm asking the questions. Me. And I'm on the forum. Heck, we've had a bunch of people NOT on the forum on our podcasts. Same deal.

Plus you're NOT a moderator. Says so right there next to your name.

    That'll be interesting to see.

I asked him about his spell at T-Mag aka Testosterone.net
Yes, I meant TC. T-mag wasn't in an office. The internet was new and we were all working from home, though I'd get together with some of the guys on the east coast -- Dan, Charles Polliquin, et al. All had a quirky aspect to their personality. I really liked some of the guys, though some of the science guys in the industry were monumental dicks with monumental egos to match. I was hired for my perspective -- which was as a historian and expert on training principles, but it was "Steroids For Health" that put me, and the site, on the map. (Even though I was never a big juicer). The original premise of the site was to be a men's magazine that spoke openly about bodybuilding and steroids and TC wanted everyone to contribute on a variety of topics. Unfortunately, most of the other guys couldn't write about any topic besides bodybuilding.

Meanwhile, I went all out and started writing about everything from film, technology to politics -- and that kinda backfired because it made me look like a co-editor and TC didn't like that. I was originally promised a partnership, and then it was reneged becasue TC did an about face and just wanted to be a site that sold supplements, and...well, we went our separate ways.

Having published a small magazine myself (MuscleMob - hence my online name) and writing to and swapping subscriptions with other magazines (MuscleMag, The Beef etc) I'm all to familiar with the simple fact that magazines cannot survive, even online, without those supplement adverts.

I'm gonna dig and see if we can get him to spill some stories on Dan Duchaine
I would be interested in more Dan Duchaine discussion. I found Dan to be an industry leader before there were industry leaders.

This is great stuff. Love N2Guard and have been using it for years.

The idea that Trevor designed it is funny......I like the dude but he was probably 13 years old when N2Guard came out.
***Canadians, hit me up on Wickr Mobile (MasonicBB) for my steroid source***

    On the changes at T-Mag:
The thing with me and TC was more a matter of my role becoming diminished in favor of people who were bigger ass kissers. And honestly, I was doing a lot of work as a musician (and part time work as an actor) and the bodybuilding stuff was feeling old and stale so ...it all worked out for the best.

On me arguing with the creator of a video on what Clickbait is:
Wilt Chamberlin the world's strongest man? Some shit is so silly you just have to ignore it. (If it doesn't effect you directly).

On, as per another post (and comments here) how knowledge doesn't always mean huge muscles
As for the writing -- yeah, Flex magazine had some terrific writers! Really, really talented people. But they weren't necessarily experts in bodybuilding or had great physiques.

Back to Muscle Media and those times:
Then there are the chemistry nerds (an ironic off-shoot from the Muscle Media crowd) who loved the topic of drugs and nutrient manipulation and the biology of muscle growth but knew nothing about how to best use drugs, they didn't diet , didn't lift and looked like shit. Anthony Roberts is a guy a lot of people hated because he was so gruff but I thought he was smart as hell. Meanwhile, Lyle McDonald is a fat fuck with the mentality of an 11 year old. Bill Roberts was a horrible person. The nicest guy I ever met was Robert Kennedy from MuscleMag. A true gentleman. Total class.

I'll add that Bob Kennedy was a top fella. He once sent me £100 to give away as a prize for a challenge at a seminar I did (grip strength related).

    On Dan Duchaine:
Dan was a character. He was a curious intellectual guy who was more intrigued with the POSSIBILITY of muscle growth than actually working out. I think he liked me because I had a common sense/creative approach to steroids, though he also liked the guys who knew the chemistry because he himself was self taught in that area and felt he could learn from them. (Even though some were real douchebags) I did a radio interview a few years back with some of the other guys in the industry who knew him and they talked about his obsession with porn and suicide shit like that. I just said that everyone has their dark side and that at face value, Dan was a good guy who made a name for himself (aided by Bill Phillips who gave him the title of "The Steroid Guru".) by having the guts to do something that was never before attempted. He spoke about these drugs for cosmetic purposes and as common as that may be now, it was a huge innovation at the time. Oddly enough, A LOT of what he said was wrong. But...he was the first to do it. And that deserves props.

That last comment is interesting. Guys here accuse Nelson of not being with it and yet we had a post just this week talking about how dosing opinions on one item have changed
