IMO.... There is a difference between can-do and do, Nick/ Samson can definitely bench 405 or more. They choose to use lightweight and do 10-15 reps with 225-315 for 5 secs each rep, that's what makes them the top in the bodybuilding world, healthy and training to fatigue are the keys. Powerlifters can be ramping 400-500lbs like a motherfucker and still, they are small compared to the same level of bodybuilders, of course, they are still bigger than 99% ppl in the world. The guy who squats 315 for sets of 8 or the guy who squats 450 for sets of 8? It’s that simple.
Also, it's been a long time since the 1990s, and the training and recovery system has changed a lot, no more 800lbs squats like big Ronnie, winning powerlifting and bodybuilding at the same time, bro science indeed works, otherwise, there won't be guys like Lee/ Ronnie/ Jay/ Phil.Jay Cutler was squatting 500+ and benching 400+ before he turned 20
Things we need to think about are what works more efficiently or what you prefer, also take a look into coaches, "Hani and Stefan style for nowadays" or "Milos style for the past"
The last thing is hard work
Good theory+ bad work= 0%
Imperfect theory+ hard work= 80%
Good theory+ hard work= 90%
There is no 100%, there's always potential that we haven't discovered
If Jay had used FST-7 training back then, would his career be different, guess we'll never know
