I put them in all my shakes when I'm low carb. The fiber keeps you full and, they're a great source of omega 3 fatty acids.

Yup I agree with asher.... they are fiber rich, potassium rich, high in omega 3, iron, b vitamins etc, protein. My friend sells "mila" brand which was one of the first that started the Chia craze. Take a look at their website
http://www.theperfectgrain.com/
I used them alot during my pregnancy and I still do. Naturally if you are watching calories just keep an eye out. I think they pack 150 grams per serving. I see a huge difference in my hair and skin when adding these super little guys to my shakes. Also, there is no need to buy them pre grinded and pay more. You can use a coffee grinder or nutri bullet and mill them

I add flax seeds to my casein shake before bed to add fibre and a healthy fat source.

Flax seeds are a cheaper alternative, although not quite as good

They make Great Pets - Chi Chi Chi Chia - (lol).
I do eat them on Occasion, but I'm like "Muskate", I stick more to the Flax Seeds............................ JP
P.S.
Chia can get Expensive.
I can Buy like 5 times the amount of Flax for the same price.

Shit I just throw them in with my shakes and they add an interesting texture. They are a "superfood" that people like to pile health claims on, me I just use them as a healthy fat and fiber supp. My local QFC has them for like $15 for a decent sized bag, amazon has good prices too.

Also they are natural thickeners. Soak a tablespoon in some kind of milk and protein, overnight pudding. They absorb water and release something similar to psyllium husk. When you eat them after soaked the release the liquid back slowly. Not that this applies to body builders or lifters but they have the ability to keep you hydrated over a longer period of time without constantly consuming water.

I drop them in water for about 20 mins and then add that to my shake, it makes little gel balls what give the shake a good texture.

Chia seeds are a nice drink if you just drop one spoon full into water and honey they are a good source of nutrition and the fiber content is amazing.

They are pricey over other forms of Fiber, but if you have the cash then they are well worth the expense. It is just a good food all around and since they hydrate into little gell balls, you can have fun mixing them into some drinks once they are constituted and giving stuff a different taste. But yeah they can get pricey Gram per gram over flax and psyllium husk.

Chia seeds are a great food to have and really a good staple to any diet, they do get pricey for the weight but well worth it in my opinion.
