COMPETING and STEROIDS

That's the moral for u Rick as u said, for him, the moral is TO WIN. Nobody's missing any point. It comes down to MENTALITY, some r ALPHA's in all they do. I'm an ALPHA PERIOD.

Agreed bro. Different strokes for different folks. We should all support each other here. Just because our views are different on things and what we make priority in our lives, doesn't mean we should look down on others for not following the same mentality. Some want to do whatever it takes to win, and that's fine for them. Those are the ones that generally win so it works in their favor. In the end, we all really want to win. Nobody competes to lose. Risk vs Reward....It just comes down to how much risk you are willing to take for a given reward, and that's really our only indifference. Some are just willing to take more risk than others.

Interesting everyone's responses.

Originally, I would of thought that Bodybuilding was like most sports.

1)That you can make a living at it (like most sports) and this would allow you to do something you truely like and get paid to do it.
2) That one goes into it with the SOLE INTENTION OF WINNING.

For the most part, neiether of these two points seem to at all to be the case. Being a PRO BODYFUILDER for most is in all reality a pipe dream and although winning is GREAT and for some their sole intention, mostly people do it as a way to better themselves.

THERE HAS GOT TO BE MORE TO IT THAN THAT!!!! LOL

You are definitely missing the point bro. First of all you are comparing team sports to an individual competition, which is like comparing apples to a single orange. ....
Why? I also mentioned boxing which is an individual sport.

In this case, I thing may statement "Philosophies differ' was accurate and reasonable.

Secondly, playing to win in high school baseball or football and putting it all doing everything required to win doesn't have the consequences that bodybuilding does....
I disagree. Thousands have made great gambles, compromises, sacrifices, etc. for 'team sports'.

Boxing, baseball, and football does not have even 10% (and that's being very generous) of the problems with excessive drug abuse and social issues that bodybuilding does, especially at the high school level.

In my mind, that's why one should either go big or go home.

Me, I went home. Lol

Rick, I do see your point.

Understand that I'm not telling you what your philosophy should be, rather, I'm explaining my own. Therefore, I can't be wrong :)

Fair enough brother, and I do respect your opinion on this. Its good to see different viewpoints on everything

This is so right. You just can't compare bodybuilding to other sports, there is nothing like it. To do a contest right, even at a regional level you need to be willing to spend thousands of dollars, risk your health, damage relationships and do it all for no monetary gain. It's crazy when you really think about it but I understand it 100% because I was in it 100%. I was trying to turn pro and I would do anything that I thought would get me there. But, unlike other sports the rewards in being a pro bodybuilder just aren't there. And really to be successful at a high level you can't work a real job, at least I couldnt. So I turned to selling drugs and stripping. I almost started posing for gay dudes but just couldn't. If someone wants to put it all on the line I get it and more power to them. I guess being older now it just doesn't make sense to me anymore. But i do love bodybuilding, i love the lifestyle, i loved competing in different cities hanging out and partying after a show with my bodybuilding friends. I even loved the recreational drugs that are all over bodybuilding despite the problems they caused me and others i knew. If i could have made a living at it id still be doing it but that just wasn't possible and i got tired of chasing a dream that wasn't real.
