I would always look for creatine mix, a lot of people here on forums use ancient strength from n2bm.com

Regarding your question - I would rather take 2 grams of hcl than 20 grams of monohydrate, because 20g is clearly too much and it will cause water retention, constant pissing, and damage to your kidneys

You should not be taking more than 10, or 15 grams at most, of creatine monohydrate. This amount should be plenty, and it is the safest dosage of creatine to use. As mentioned above, it is best not to choose just one think, and instead use a mix of creatine's. For instance, Ancient Strength has 4 different kinds of creatine in it, and it works great.

Are you talking about doing a "Loading Phase" with the 20 Grams.
I did this years ago, and it did cause some Water Retention and constant Urination Issues.

I do a combo now of Kre-Alkalyn & Creapure.

In studies, HCl may be more Water Soluble than Regular Monohydrate.
If you're paying Extra Money for the HCL form, you're just wasting it.
As again during what Studies do exist, No other Form of Creatine has proven More Potent than Monohydrate.

It really comes down to convenience and price............................................... JP
P.S.
You can head over to Examine dot com and look at not only All the Studies, but all the Different Forms and how they performed.
Caveat: ~ Monohydrate has the most Clinical Studies out of all the different forms of Creatine.

Creatine is creatine when it really comes down to it. All the different forms have slightly different absorption mechanisms but they all contain the same base creatine molecule. Your best bet is to use a multi ingredient creatine product like ancient strength from n2bm.com. You get the best of everything that way. Ancient strength is a mix of creatine monohydrate, creatine pyruvate and creatine HCL.

By the way, 20g of creatine per day is an absurd dosage. 5g per day is a good dosage. There is no need to supplement with more then that.

A pure creatine monohydrate will be the cheapest and most effective single creatine you can buy. If you want the best creatine blend, go with Ancient Strength...

Ancient Strength

The serving amount is 3 tablets and in typical N2BM fashion you get a 30 day supply, so about 90 tabs.
Each serving of three tabs contains:

Creatine Monohydrate………………………………….4,551mg
Creatine HCL……………………………………………300mg
Creatine Pyruvate………………………………………150mg

I disagree with "creatine being creatine"
...personally for me. 100% monohydrate sucks....I get bloated right away. I prefer using a blend that has it all....I get much better results and almost zero bloating.

Jp mentioned a great combo-'I'm doing something similar right now. Zero bloat.

Either way you certainly don't need 20grams ed. I like to stick with about 10g. 5 pre workout and 5 post. Very easy.
