I read some post and articles about ibuprofen helping to boost performance before training , I was wondering what dose to take and how many hours prior to work out, anyone has taken it here?

Any type of NSAID, like Aspirin, Ibuprofen, or Naproxen will reduce Inflammation.

Acute Inflammation from working out will Stimulate Muscle Growth.

Chronic Inflammation from Infection or Over Stress will Inhibit Muscle Growth..................................... JP
P.S.
This was Old School thinking that taking an Aspirin before or after a strenuous workout would help with Lactic Acid.

There's been a lot of recent study refuting this claim, so taking any type of NSAID before a workout is Counter-Productive.

Taking anti inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen before your workout will actually be counterproductive for your muscle building goals. Inflammation (the pump) is needed to signal the hypertrophy (muscle building) process. By taking Ibuprofen before your workout, you will blunt that response and not get as much of a hypertrophy response from the workout that you would of otherwise.

Ibuprofen also carries a more liver toxic nature then most oral steroids. I am really not a fan of anti-inflammatory pain medications unless they are 100% necessary.

If you want something to increase endurance before your workout, check out cadarine. It will directly increase fat loss, endurance and recovery. It won't effect muscle gains like anti-inflammatory drugs will. It also isn't a hormone or a stimulant so there are no issues of hormone suppression, cortisol increases etc. -> http://www.evolutionary.org/cardarine/

Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory, so I just don't see how it could improve one's athletic performance - it works in a different way. In fact, it is so harsh on the stomach and on the liver, that I would recommend using it only in very imperative situations, and opt for other alternatives whenever possible.

For bodybuilding purposes its anti productive, so I dont know why would you even want that

nobody has mentioned the biggest problem. shutting off inflammation during a workout is a sure fire way to cause more damage to existing injuries, and create new ones.

some powerlifters will purposely want to reduce inflammation before their max days.. yes reducing will help in the short term.. but doing such a stupid thing has long term implications. the same guy i know who does this has to take more before bed cause he says his joints and soft tissues hurt so much post workout. is that worth it?

Lets remember that ibuprofen is NOT liver toxic. It is not a good idea to use it before training but too many people assume it is liver toxic because it is an oral medication. You want your body to deal with the tearing and repairing of the muscle naturally.

ibuprofen will directly inhibit muscle growth by reduction inflammation. If your goal is to build muscle don't take it.
