Meta-study: animal proteins are better muscle builders than vegetable proteins

FACT - Animal proteins are better muscle builders than vegetable proteins, PERIOD! (some plant base is great too)

Is this true or is it "udder" BULL-Sh*t

There are good sides to the rise of vegetable proteins. We hold this view because we like innovation, because we care about our planet, and because we suspect that a remarkable number of cows and pigs find it unpleasant to be eaten. But we cannot deny that the human body responds better to animal proteins than to vegetable proteins when it comes to muscle building.

Study
Researchers from the National University of Singapore collected 16 previously published studies that compared the effect of animal protein supplementation on strength and muscle mass with the effect of plant protein supplementation on strength and muscle mass.
In some studies the subjects trained with weights, in other studies they did not.

Results
The table below summarizes the results of the selected studies. At first glance, animal protein appears to outperform vegetable protein across the board, but the differences between the effect on muscle strength were not statistically significant.

However, the difference between the effect of animal proteins on muscle mass and the effect of vegetable proteins on muscle mass was significant, the researchers discovered when they divided their data by age. There was no difference between the effect of the two types of protein on muscle mass in the over-fifties, but there was in the under-fifties.

Conclusions
"In summary, this systematic review and meta-analysis have found that animal protein tends to have a more favorable effect on lean mass compared to plant protein, and the benefit appears more pronounced in younger adults", summarize the researchers.

"On the other hand, protein source is not likely to have an impact on muscle strength."

animal protein is better thats a fact for sure

these are some great topics vision
and I also agree with you on taking care of our planet

I think in bodybuilding it's much more efficient to use animal protein
I mean you've got to do everything you can do to keep up

this is exactly correct
but vegetarians can body build as you said

it's going to be harder as a vegan for sure
but some people love the challenge

people got to stick to the high Quality Meats
you should do a thread on a difference between high-quality and low-quality

yes even with chicken or turkey it makes a huge difference
the types of fats that are in the animal from the foods they are given makes a huge difference

nice job vision
we don't see too many threads talking about nutrition because it's a boring topic for many but it's a very important topic

You can build muscle and performance to a certain degree, but if you want to be the best and biggest mass monster in the world plant based will not give optimal results. You will be leaving a lot on the table so to speak. It might be better health wise but not peak physical performance. Higher cholesterol diets are better for peak performance in men who are already in peak physical shape.

Whole eggs and ribeye are true muscle builders.

Def the diet the animals are fed will affect the quality a lot. And age. Take farm raised fish vs wild. Absolutely no comparison. And grass fed beef!
If you look at wild versus farmed very diff. Venison or elk next to farmed beef. I never tried goat. Look what they do to make a plant based protein look and taste like meat!!! How much processing does that take? And why if you don’t like meat why you need it to taste like an animal?
I would be a terrible vegan or vegetarian. I look at how uch u gotta eat to get enuff in. I think In Strength building strong man powerlifting the animal protein for the win!

I prefer animal
