if you sweat a lot when you workout and especially you live in a hot climate it is a good idea to supplement with magnesium, salt, and potassium on those days
if you don't then just eat a balanced diet and you won't need to supplement

Magnesium in food has really declined due to such poor soil conditions. I recommend taking a good multivitamin product with minerals.
