Massacre at Ft. Hood

Yep..

Very sad!!!

yea, fox had coverage actually while it was happening.. live.. disturbing to say the least..

I still do not support muslims in the usa military.. nor did i support iranians in the usaf in 1979, that's why we boxed them up and shipped them out when the hostage situation happened..

those that do not learn from history are doomed repeat it.. case in point..

besides cowardice in the face of the enemy in a time of war, well, hangings too good for him..

Yep, terrible. This sort of stuff happens too often.

Exactly!!! Although they were investigating to see if he changed his name and changed his faith (or whatever) to muslim.

Call me a bit racist (I'm a big girl I can handle it) although the United States military should consist of citizens that were born here in the states! Not people that moved over here or whatever..You never know when people may turn. Especially with all the iraq, Afghan bullshit.

As far as I know noone that we know of is stationed there. My best friend- THANK GOD moved from there a few years back and landed in Alaska. They were to transfer back a few months ago but the children decided they would rather stay in Alaska and risk their father deploying than to go to TX..I am so thankful.

Stuff like this always gets me worked up. As a former military spouse it breaks my heart to even think of this. To imagine having this happen and have someone knock on your door. Or to have someone that I personally know end up murdered while in combat or by incidents like this. Horrible. These poor boys, girls, men, women. They give their all every damn day and this is what they get. Killed!!

Another thing that gets me going is that the Military in my opinion (on the posts) are secure. Far more secure than the "real world". (They are their own little world)...If shit like this can happen on a Military post than what the fuck can happen in a random walmart or target, or downtown, etc...WTF

i got a text/news alert about it, i could NOT believe it! :(

I think anyone who legitimately wants to serve and defend this country should have the right to.

US Citizens - born and raised in this country - 'turn' all the time. And remember, just because you're born and raised here doesn't mean you're a specific religion. We have millions of practicing Muslims here who were also born here.

The key factor here is identifying the people BEFORE they go off the rails, regardless of who they are or where they're from.

Stuff like this happens all the time, unfortunately. It rarely ever happens on Military bases. Think of all the school shootings etc that have happened in the past :(

as an officer the military should have locked him up when he publicized/ voiced a decenting opinion.

If memory serves the UCMJ is pretty straight forward when it comes to that..

I agree with O.Z. terrorists come in all different forms. And right now everyone is set on placing labels on middle easterners. Many of whom leave their countries and come here to serve in our Armed Forces because they are so against their countries views. What we hear about the things that go on within the military bases are about 80% lies anyways. I know this from experience. But I disagree with the fact that it doesnt happen on bases a lot. There is a lot of shit that happens that we never hear about.

I was just referring to shootings like this not taking place often on bases. I don't even want to think about what else actually goes down on bases...

I've heard some horror stories.

let me clarify.. I believe that much like a priest, a man cannot be in the military and kill to serve.. many can serve without killing..

however i believe that Muslims are more tied to a deep faith and thus are convicted, truely a great service to mankind, if you agree with them or not doesn't matter..

Thus just as my 1st hand experience training with women i do not feel they should serve side by side with men.. not because they are not capable, but because of men's failings and not being able to separate the learned behavior of protecting women (the weaker sex)..

hope i didn't offend..

Im not offended, your absolutely right. Which is the same reason why gays are not allowed in. (Although they slip in :))

For the same reason the government does not want wives and daughters to be slaughtered on the front lines because that mentality reaches the masses.

I have many friends in the army and a lot of friends on this post. I am deeply distressed that this has happen and I know how the atmosphere must be on fort hood right now.
My heart goes out to all my brothers in arms and I hope all of them stay safe tonight.

The life of a solder is not for everyone. Its not a easy life even if you never set foot on a battle field its still a hard life to live.

I was on a small post of no more then 5000 people and in the 4 years I spent there there was 10 people who ended there own lives. This was just in the building next to me. Hows that for

I both loved and hated my life in the army

Same situation for me except my cousin hung himself in his barracks, but the army tells it a little different.

Yes, well of course they cover it up!

We lived right next door to the barracks. Only a fence separated our Italian house from the post where the barracks were. Looking off my neighbors balcony you could see into the barracks rooms. Well a young man cut himself up.. Then talk when on about how he got help, etc..WELL he killed himself right after. My girlfriend looked out her balcony window and there he was happily dicing himself up. I often wonder what his family was told about him.

Another incident was that part of our post (which as N2 described was very small at the time) went over seas. Well a soldier committed suicide by shooting himself. They claimed that he came under friendly fire, it was later told by others in his unit that he committed suicide.

How about the guy that accidentally shot himself going down a ladder?

Obviously I know that the military covers up shit!

Its a rough life I was unable to continue duty due to an injury. There is alot that goes through your mind when you sit there. It was a bad environment for many people onece they were injured they were never the same. Its an unfortunate thing but most problems like this are a by product of the fact that (atleast in the marines) seeing a psychatrist is grounds for a discharge. I saw one as a child and had to withhold that to serve my country. I know any one who is was or will be n the military has been affected by this act today. I can only hope my friends that live In and around the Ft. Hood Kileen Waco area are all ok.
