missing a muscle while injecting

I had been injecting on my quad and a few days ago I missed the muscle hit like a tendon or something, right now the site is red and it hurts like crazy, I started pinning on my other side and shoulders, but my concern is how can avoid an infection or should I just go straight to the doctor?

If you somehow damaged a nerve of a tendon, it will be inflamed for a bit, and will hurt. However, if the pain persists, and the injection side gets warm, then i would recommend you to go to a doctor, since it would be a clear indicator of an infection. Usually, I would recommend you to go to a doctor right away, but since you have seen immediately that the pain was there because you pinned some wrong place, I think you can wait a bit by now.

If its just swollen, apply heating creams and compressions until it goes away. Happened to me once, couldnt walk for a week

what you have there is called 'tissue irritation' and it will take about 10 days to go away.

avoid that spot in the future

if you go to a doctor he will look at it for 2 minutes and write you a script for an anti-biotic or anti-inflammatory that you don't need and send you home with a $500 bill.

just cause something gets red and swollen doesn't mean you have an infection, infections take time to show themselves. they don't just show up after a few hours like magic after an injection like you see on tv

As long as you don't develop a rash or get a fever - it was just a bad injection. If either of those happen, go to the hospital immediately because you have an infection.

Start supplementing with fish oil at 6-10g per day. It will help bring inflammation in the area down and reduce the pain. The pain will go away in a few days as the oil disperses into the blood stream.

As the rest of the brother have said it's likely nothing major to worry about right now. Quads can get tricky and I'm sure most of us have hit something at one point when doing quads. Just watch it for the next few days and leave it out of rotation until it's all healed up.

Sounds to me like you either Hit the Nerve.
Or more than likely, put the Oil right next to the Nerve, causing an Inflammation of the Nerve.
It will take some time for the Inflammation to resolve.
Ibuprofen can help with the Inflammation, as well as some Ice for the 1st 48 Hours.
Followed by Heat after 48 hours................................. JP
P.S.
In the Future, at the 1st sign of a Problem, withdrawal the Needle and move your Injection Site.
