Veteran Log Mobsters Training Diary

God help us hahaha 👀 what’s the heaviest you have leg pressed @Mobster?
850kg/1870lbs

The local gym had more 25kg plates then and so I could get 700 or 705kg on it. And then 'Brownie' aka Chris Brown a 150kg/330lbs lifter climbed on it. Just a few reps for the giggles. I could do more now. Heck, I could have done 700kg yesterday (I'll be there in 3 weeks max). If I win the lotto I'll buy a 4 pin machine from Watson - takes 1000kg/2200lbs

It's worth being clear on three points.

1) It's all relative. I squat a load so I ought to be able to leg press a load. I mean I sat, tight, onto a bench with 700lbs+ in the Hatfield Squat. I'm only leg pressing double. And I'm well over 300lbs etc with 45 years lifting.
2) How I do it. I have the exact same leg press at home - I mean EXACT (just a diff color). On mine I put a big foam pad on the back rest and, as I do at the commercial gym, on the super heavy sets I push off of the safeties (I mean who's gonna save me with 600kg?). I'd actually argue I have a better range of movement at home. My foot position means I'm pushing from where my legs/knee etc are at a right angle. I can and have gone deeper (I let it sit me in the hole with 420kg a few years back and repped it).

IF I was a bodybuilder I'd actually use less. Like no more than 400kg probably. But DEEP, slow and circa 20 reps. I'd also switch up between 1 and 2 legged presses and different food positions

There's a vid of me doing reps with 765kg circa 2005-2010 on my old YT account

Nice week of weights @Mobster! 💪💪🌸 is that an asterisk by your squat n leg press be PRs? Haven’t used knee wraps in years and years. Might be fun to try them again one day. But I lift Raw so Use size XL SBDs but I have competition sleeves LG by SBD. The federation said we have to put on sleeves on without assist or any cheating so to speak. If you can get the on yourself without a bag or sock do t matter how tight!! 🤣🤪 legs might go numb tho. That be bad. Ha. Always inspiring to read bro! 💪🌸

I did a post 2 days ago on Facebook. Sleeves are allowed in what is called 'raw powerlifting'.

Squat: I go no support at all warming up and 1st set (100kg/220lbs). 2nd set (200kg/440lbs) is a back support (elasticated etc) and then 330lg/726lbs was the lifting belt and knee wraps

Leg Press: support belt on and then only wrapping the knees on the max set.

It's as much about knee and back health (so far so good) as max lifting
