Narcissism of bodybuilders

Is it true that most bodybuilder are quite narcistic? I have noticed that behind many bodybuilders whom I know personally, or people who workout seriously – they don't just feel good with themselves, they need to show off by any means. Is this that I have messed up friends, or happens to all of the bodybuilders?

Both. In the age of social media and selfies people in general are becoming narcissistic. When, as per the Kardashians, it's rewarded it gets worse. Bodybuilding is, of course, about how a muscle looks. It's been described as a muscle beauty show. But it's no more narcissistic than a bunch of other stuff. At the most extreme example (so the Mr Olympia) it's more of a freak show. One I enjoy watching. The men at that show are unique and rare. I'd have happily been one before my talents showed themselves in another aspect of the Iron Game.

many both males and females have self image issues in not just bodybuilding, but also modelling or any other type of similar endeavor

I used to know a whore friend.. she would tell me that steroids shrunk dicks because she said almost every muscular guy she tasted had a tiny pecker. i thought that was fascinating.

some of us are short in height.. some of us grew up fat.. some grew up skinny and weak.. some of us just like to look at ourselves in the mirror.. some of us want attention. no different than those whores who show their boobies at mardi gras for fucking beads or who go to bars to suck off a different guy every night. ATTENTION

Given my age and longevity in working out I find that half as much of my advice given out is training and half is motivation. And not always of the 'big lift, go hard, another rep' kind. But of the confidence building, getting their heads straight kind. And there's no difference between the sexes.

There is indeed a bit of this thing in everybody, and given the fact that bodybuilders are usually in very good shapes, they feel more free and more entitled to show this off. So I am pretty sure that most of the people in the bodybuilding shape would be a bit egocentric - guess it is just human nature.

I know bodybuilders who are the most humble people you have ever met and I know bodybuilders who are extremely narcissist.

Being a bodybuilder does not make you full of yourself. Professional athletes, music stars, professors at a university - all have a big ego.

Having an ego is a personality trait. It has nothing to do with your body.

I always remind myself that we are all going to die one day. We all bleed red blood. We are all equals.

This just depends on the individual. I typically see this type of behavior with the younger guys who want to pose in the mirror. I am the opposite. I wear a hoodie a lot of times at the gym just because I don't want people looking and asking questions when I am trying to train.

I'm generally the same dude, rarely train in a tank top, always in sleeves and shit.. Training is all business dude , its not a fuckn social network

If those of us who understand the importance of being in-shape and thus healthy are given to a high degree of narcissism, then I suppose those who are out of shape and thus unhealthy are given to self-loathing. If so, I'll stick with being especially narcissistic. (Remember: All human beings are at least somewhat narcissistic. For narcissism is one of the things that keep up alive. Think about it.)

I like that bro.

I won't lie, i am the same way.. HOWEVER the key is to stay humble. chicks hate openly narcisstic guys, but they do love a confident guy. there is a difference between the two. when you walk into a date and you have your head held high, dressed to kill, and a smile on your face you can come off confident to a woman.

Trust me, bro, at 59 years of age, 5' 11" tall and 167lbs., there is absolutely nothing for me to be all that narcissitic about. If I have a strong point it is the fact that only 7.5% of my 167lbs. consists of fat, which does cause me to appear to be rather shredded. But that is hardly cause for narcissism. Yeah, were I to exhibit narcissistic tendencies, I would be, quite deservedly, laughed at. :-)
