This is husband’s chihuahua, Natasha, he had for 14 years. She was rescued from a SoCal puppy mill. We had to let her go last month after a battle with cancer. We let her hang on for as long as possible but finally had to have the lady come out to the house. She was the coolest vet ever. All of us sat on the bed together with Natasha. It’s that step by step process. The worst part was seeing my husband in that much gut wrenching pain as he and the lady wrapped Natasha up in the little blanket. I never want to see him go through that ever again. You realize so many things in those moments. We got her ashes back and will place her in our columbarium niche with my dad, until we all eventually move in.

I'd be so sad.
The was very cool and she pointed out that pets help us practice and prepare for the bigger things that happen with people.

Which didn’t make me feel any better. Between contemplating maybe having to put my cat down one day which I absolutely can not deal with , and thinking about our advanced medical directives which sounds practical till the day comes.
I mean wtf Human life seems poorly designed.🤷

the way i look at it, would you rather die first and leave your pets behind? happens and i used to foster and people would either abandon their pets or die and leave them to the pound.

as hard as it is to bury a pet, i would much rather it be that way then leave one behind

Yes. When the drunk driver hit me and my car was spinning around in the freeway in the dark all I could think was “what’s going to happen to my cat” .

Def the best way.

14 years is a long time, you should be happy for the time you had with her
It was his dog and much harder on him than me.
But I dread the day my it’s my kittys turn. I pays lot more attention to here everyday since then
