Overtraining symptoms...

Just wanted to touch on another thing I figured out 6 weeks into this...I was overtraining by working out twice a day, especially at the pace and the weights I was using.

I realized this somewhat by accident but I had a suspicion it might be the case. Noticed my resting heart rate was abnormally high and was having a lot of trouble sleeping...almost like I was wired at night. Finally I decided to just go back to once a day and started lifting heavier weight with lower reps.

The result? Sleeping much better and resting heart rate is down 10-15 bpm...don't underestimate the Central Nervous Systems role in all of this...if your resting heart rate is more than 7-8 bpm faster than normal and you are having sleep issues when you normally don't, overstimulation of the CNS could be an issue...

Wish I didn't have to always learn things the hard way, but at least I learn them, lol...

Overtraining is very real. Your body will always let you know when your CNS is overtaxed. I get a ton of lethargy and prolonged recovery time when I have overtrained

Hell I been working out twice a day for the last two weeks. I feel great. Besides sore everywhere. But isn't that the point. Lol. But yes. U can over train.

There's Actually a Whole Lot written on CNS Overload and how to avoid it.................................. JP
P.S.
There's also CNS training, whereby it teaches you not to Fry your Central Nervous System.

I've done the CNS workout program by Pete Sisco if that's what you are referring to...

I think the stimulation of the CNS by the Test coupled with the CNS stimulation of running Gironda 8x8's twice a day was causing overload...I seem to have a pretty sensitive CNS--I do not do well on stims at all--caffeine, synephrine, etc all cause issues for me...

This was week 5 of working out twice a day also, which was likely already pushing the limit...

Back in the olden days - lifting three times a week was the norm. Gear was taken in spoonfuls, not in buckets. Rest and recovery was deemed essential and more emphasized.

I think getting enough sleep and a day off for growth and recovery now and then are a lost art in todays get bigger faster culture. WE WANT IT NOW!!!

But then, I am really old. So what do I know? <chuckle>

Can overtraining occur even if your on gear? I was under the impression that gear shortened recovery time?

it can still happen.

Adding a ton of gh with slin and a perfect perfect diet makes it very very hard for it to occur, but it still can. Human bodies need rest, thats all there is too it, no matter how much aas and cals you throw at it, we need sleep and days off.

It happens all of the time because when people are on gear, they feel invincible and push themselves too hard.

Feeling very good at 300mg/wk right now...heart rate way down from where it was, which I can only attribute to overtraining as its been lower for a week and a half straight now anywhere from 10-15 bpm...

Going to bump back up to 500mg/wk and see how it goes for last 6 weeks

Overtraining is definitely a real thing. Rest and recovery are the most important things for making gains. You grow in the kitchen and while resting, not in the gym. My best results have came the last 3 years when I switched to high intensity, low volume training only 3 days per week.

You can train 6 days a week and not "over train" or "burn the CNS out" it just depends on Vol and intensity. Powerlifters need to train more frequently than a BB imo. Why, b/c they are training for strength which is both CNS and muscle training. However, they need to keep vol low and rest periods long where as BB's need to keep vol high and intensity high with little rest between sets.
It really depends on goals. Is your goal to move as much weight as possible for 1 rep or to build muscle. You train based on goals.
I also believe there is a difference b/c over training and under recovering.

I agree, rest and recovery is where it all happens once you break it down in the gym.

Totally agree. When I am in the weight room I HIT IT HARD!!! However, I now believe that in order to do that everytime i go to the gym I better make room for days off. Overtraining is simply not getting enough rest.
