Approved Log Power building & Rehabilitation log

Week 7/block 2/lower body A

Have had a light flu since Tuesday, feeling a lot better so went in this morning, however my session didn’t go to plan, didn’t even finish warm up sets..

Foam rolled
Thoracic extensions
Planks
Chest + lat stretches

Deadlifts

Warm up:
60kg x 10
60kg x 10
100kg x 5
140kg x 3 **
180kg x 2
210kg x 2 **

At 140kg x 3 I felt a slight tightness/strain maybe 2/10 in left lower back. Foam rolled quickly and thought nothing of it.
180kg x 2 I kept very strict, perfect.
210kg x 2 I felt the light strain on lower back again,as I reset for rep 2 a sharp hot burn from leg through glutes to lower back. 8/10 pain

Stood up, leant against wall for nearly 5 mins before I could walk, move around without pain.
Foam rolled quickly and straight home for heat pack, ibuprofen.

It’s currently very tight, and if lean the wrong way that slight pain returns from lower back to leg through glutes though only a 2/10

Unsure if sciatic nerve, itb, or a slight glute strain/hopefully not tear.

Will reassess in the morning, but left feeling defeated. To be continued..

@Ringworm1 you should get a deep tissue massage there, is that possible? do you have access?
also infrared lamp do you have access to one?

I would be careful with legs until you resolve this, some guys get real tight from this

Very nice job on the deadlifts

Cheers mate,
Yes booked in for remedial tomorrow with scalp cupping. I’ve got access to infrared sauna, ice baths, and float tanks also.

Two things
1) Mega dose Vit C for a few days for the fly symptoms.
2) There are active release stuff you can do yourself for that pain. There's one I do which is simple to do but a sod to explain. Search for 'sciatic nerve stretches' online and try these. Start real easy so as to now make it worse.

No harm and resting a couple days and letting the sickness work its way through.
Sorry about the pain issues.

Stretching will help big time.
Make sure you keep stretching, you gotta decompress those discs in your spine.

These types of back problems. Will only keep getting worse The more you weight train.
So, it's important not to hammer away. If you're starting to get issues,

Let us know how the back feels. Maybe give it a break for a few days.

I like some of the suggestions above you definitely need to not ignore this.
Inversion table and lots of hot yoga and lots of stretching will go a long way plus the foam roller works good.

Not good
