POWERLIFTERS' CORNER !!! post your PRS, Goals, Techniques, Apparel, ETC !!!!

I OHP at least twice a week. No better way to build boulders for shoulders and a great tricep workout and bench accessory lift.

Understood Casca, no shame in that brother.

Guys if you ever want to know who had the strongest OHP it was Doug Hepburn. He pressed, at the olympics 370lbs like it was 135.

I think that record stood for many years until they (the Olympics) starting allowing lifters to lean back...then it was broken by 130+lbs.

Me too...I no longer bench press...which is more of a shoulder/lat lift than a pec.

But but but he weighed 410 lol

I'm and in no way a powerlifter, but I do OHP like a champ! Makes me feel strong lol

You have to drop your shoulders back and concentrate on the pec broski.

But I do dumbbell presses for pecs and of course pecdecks and flys

Bro those r close to Dan greens numbers. May I ask how you train?

i always start with main lifts.. bench day i start with bench (obviously) pyramid up then down. heres what saturday looked like for bench

bench- 10x135 10x225 10x275 5x315 5x365 5x405 3x455x2 1x475 8x315 10x275 then i max rep 225. best day was 42 reps, usual is 30 at the end

squat day
10x225 10x315 10x365 5x405 5x465 5x500 2-3x550x2 20x315 20x225 20x135

deadlifts
10x225 10x315 5x405 5x500 5x550 2-3x570x2-3 10x275 10x225 - i use pronated grip with straps

I've just always trained heavy. always worked towards hitting my 95% then taper down

these are 3 years old but nothings changed. could probably surpass those numbers now. id get another video but i build my whole basement into a gym and train alone now. no one else is at my level so its hard to find bros to workout with. one time ill get someone to video my squat and deadliest and post it too.

Nice! We need more vids in here. Holding your breath is a good technique to use with both Deads and squats. Really helps stabilize the core under maximal loads.

im gonna disagree with this. never hold your breath. good way to hurt yourself imo

wish i could edit. my training scheme doesn't variate. just what i do for exercises. i always mix up tempo, reps, exercises etc. for example i did legs yesterday, super heavy. at the end is when i tried to do max squats. was chalk outlined hard for awhile after my last set lol

mon-- legs
tuesday- morning HIIT 20min afternoon-- chest
wed-- legs
thursday-- morning Sprint class or 30min HIIT.. afternoon back with bench at end
friday-- shoulder and arms
saturday-- heavy deadlifts and 20-30min HIIT circuit
sunday-- either take day off or do some oly lifting
