I don't do any barbell benching anymore. Either DB of machine. I need good alignment and th barbell forces me to be in a position i don't like for my shoulder. I never did get 3 plates on the flat bench though. Always seem to get injured around 305lbs.
Arsenal flat press and incline press are great.
Flat bench kills my shoulder too. But then I’m always wishing k could get my barbell bench up. I feel strong on dumbbell presses but there is only so much you can roll back and balance. Incline dumbbell is okay for me at lower angles. But I definitely can’t do shoulder presses with them without pain in my right shoulder. I tend to do a plate load machine for incline.

Went to the pre judge yesterday. Was a lot of great physiques. In the pic was me from last year over dieted at 172lbs. Competed in middle open. The pic below would have been my class this year. I will have to compete in light/heavy next year. Being close to 6' tall is not an advantage in this sport. Judging by where i am at now and lessons learned going into last years show i think this year I think I would have been between between 65 and 44 in 4th place.
