I assume this is from running?
shin splints are caused by the tendons slapping on your shins. PERIOD.
you stop this from happening by having your foot slightly raised during your stride, and holding the shin muscles slightly firm.
every single distance runner on earth knows this.
and fwiw, heel striking makes this infinitely worse.
watch some youtube videos of distance runners, and you'll see what I'm talking about.
a proper stride lands near the center of the foot, not on the heel.
