I'm having problems sleeping after I eat dinner, and I've tried taking valerian root to calm down nothing helps. I seem to get like an anxiety feeling and have bloating and can't sleep this is not normal and only started after my high protein diet, any help would be appreciated.

For the bloating use the above mentioned digestive enzymes and probiotics - they will reduce your bloating and improve digestion. As for the sleep problems go with N2Sleep - it is much more effective than just the valerian root, as it has so many more ingredients. It works great, and it is all natural. The thing that I like the most about n2Sleep is that the next morning you wake up rested, not with a hangover feeling you usually get from sleep drugs.

If you feel sleepy after eating, this may be a standard reaction to the types of food you are consuming. It could also indicate a health problem. There are different degrees of being tired. Most people feel the need for a nap during the afternoon, after they've eaten lunch. In other situations, individuals are so tired they can't keep their eyes open no matter when or what they eat. This condition is more likely to be a health concern or a sleep disorder.

Taking valerian root is part of your problem. Valerian root is a natural sleep aid that a lot of people supplement with before bed.

Feeling tired after eating a large meal (especially protein based) is completely normal. Digestion is a very demanding process metabolically. Especially protein. It's why you feel tired after a big turkey dinner. Essentially, blood travels away from your extremities (heart, muscles etc.) and into your stomach to digest the food.

Try breaking your meals up into smaller meals throughout the day and supplement with a probiotic and digestive enzyme with your meals.

Eating and then going to sleep isn't the best idea anyway. I like to eat my last meal of the day about an hour or so before I go to sleep. I agree with taking a digestive enzyme and probiotic with your last meal. This should help you. Also try making it a smaller meal
