What to do about Acne ?

Good morning folks ,

Well as the title indicates I have developed a problem with Acne on my shoulders and chest which started towards the end of my last cycle and has not gone away yet. I'm currently cruising on 250 mg a week test-e and taking aromasin @6.25 mg od as my TRT protocol. I was told that Nizoral works well and there is a product call Accutane that works well also . I am looking forward to starting a new cycle in June and would like to know how to get this under control before than . I have never had such issues before other than through puberty can anyone help me with any suggestions ?

Accutane works - there is absolutely no denying that. However, it is one of the worst compounds you can possibly take in terms of side effects.

I would recommend pursing other options first and only use accutane as a last resort.

Drying/tanning out the skin helps immensely.

Go to your doctor and ask him to prescribe you a topical acne cream. It'll work better then anything available over the counter and your insurance will cover it.

On top of that, make sure you are showering 3 times per day: upon waking, after workouts and before bed.

Baking soda is one of the best natural exfoliants you can use. Gently rub baking soda on your trouble areas when showering to remove layers of dead skin and help remove the acne.

Oh man, acne. I've been dealing with my post cycle acne for a while now. After my last cycle my back shoulders and chest got bombarded with severe cystic acne. It started the last two weeks of my cycle and throughout my 5 week PCT. Over the counter products didn't help, topical creams prescribed by the derm and antibiotics didn't do squat either. Recently I started tanning and it's been helping. I'm also starting accutane next week as last resort. Just beware, accutane is harsh as fuck and steroids are like skittles compared to it in terms of side effects.
But yeah try tanning. I've been doing two 10 min sessions every week and it's been definitely helping

One thing I never hear anyone mentions is your sheets and pillow cases. Keep your sheets really clean always. Your pillow cases especially. You can wash your face as much as you want but if you lay back down on what was up against your dirty face previously your basically back to where you started.

Oh yes I forgot to mention that. I change my sheets and pillowcases every 3 days. That helps too

Even in my late-50s, and even though I drink 5 to 6 liters of water per day, change bedding at least twice per week, and tan and expose myself to salt water nearly every day, I would still experience acne were I not to use exfoliating gloves at least once per day while showering. I scrub my skin head-to-toe with exfoliating gloves quite aggressively, and it keeps me 100% free of acne at all times. Try it.

some of you are just going to be more prone to acne, add hormones to the equation and its worse.

I feel bad it can be a real problem with self esteem

Of course. Whats the point of being ripped if you cant take off your shirt in public area such as a beach, haha

Accutane is so harsh in terms of side effects, that it should be absolutely the last resort for the treatment of acne. You should first try less aggressive means of dealing with it, and only if all of them fail go for the accutane. Sun tanning is very a beneficial and natural way of reducing acne. I can personally vouch for this method - it really helped me a lot, and I am very acne prone. Also, black ointment and zinc containing creams are extremely effective and cheap ways of reducing acne. Black ointment smells bad, but I think you can stand if for a couple of hours if you want to get rid of that acne.

I agree, I just started using Nizoral shampoo on my back and it is certainly helping, the Baking soda is an excellent idea, use it to scrub and clean out those pores before applying the nizoral, i leave it on while i wash and shave once all of that is done then i will rinse it off along with everything else before drying off.

Everything mentioned above definitely helps.

I know that some people are more acne prone then others....but for me it's absolutely vital to keep hormone levels stable and make sure everything is run at the same time, not forgotten etc.

Food is a biggie here to...if your body is breaking out topically then obviously there is an issue inside the body that needs to be taken care of.

Please stay away from accutane...like stated above its harsh.

Give tanning, washing more often, baking soda etc a try.....but also add in probiotics, evening primrose oil and b vitamins to your diet. Drink more water. Nettle tea and dandelion root tea are excellent for cleansing the body....try to drink them daily.

Tea tree oil is great for acne.

If you aren't already...try to take your weekly or bi weekly steriod injection at the same times. Take your ai at the same time as well.

Good luck

That is good advice, unfortunately Accutane is the only thing that works with people who are genetically predisposed to cystic and nodular acne. No amount of tanning, dieting, antibiotics, prescription strength topical products or otc crap will solve the problem. As my dermatologist stated this is just putting a bandaid on the problem. It will always come back. Some are more fortunate than others. As harsh and as awful Accutane is, let's face it, it works and works well (more than 90% of people who go through the treatment go into remission meaning acne just does not come back). Yes side effects are bad but if you're cycling gear your body is already a chemistry project so in some cases it's better to bite the bullet and go through 6 months of dry lips, skin eyes and occasional nosebleeds just to have clear skin forever. Acne can be really crippling not only physically but mentally as well. Just my two cents

When I was on accutane as a teenager I had to carry a bottle of lotion with me and put it on hourly because my skin would get so dried out it was painful. Also had to carry chapstick and apply probably at least 2 times per hour. I couldn't be in the sun for any period of time without being sunburned. I could not possibly think about using accutane again. It was so hard to deal with. It did clear up my acne and thank god the acne I have now is so much less extreme. I couldn't deal with that again.
I went to dermatologist more recently and he put me on a some benzoyl pads, a topical cream and oral medication. It has made my areas a little better but I dont think I will even be acne free unfortunately.

I would suggest getting some Finasteride and begin taking immediately as it typically takes a few months to work. This should control your acne. It is from the conversion of Testosterone to DHEA. This med will block the conversion. Good luck. 5 mg daily should do the trick.
