Welcome Evolutionary.org Hardcore 2.0 #163—Overhead pressing dangerous?  by Para Pharma. In this episode, the guys discuss how common shoulder injuries are, their experiences with them, the importance of fixes such as stretching and mobility, which compounds are neutral or good for injuries, which compounds are bad for injuries, and why Para Pharma is solid.

How common are shoulder injuries

Mobster chimes in first and says he gives people a hard time for not squatting but a lot of times they have pre-existing injuries which make it hard to squat.  The same can be said for shoulder issues from overhead pressing and it seems to be the older you get the more prone to injuries you become.  Mobster says that when you do heavy and high rep overhead presses he sees a shoulder rotation which is a lot of wear and tear.

Noah says based on statistics, the shoulders are the 3rd most common injury aside from knees and back.  He says that people in their 20s think they are invincible and it can come back to bite you and it did for him when he felt a snap in his shoulder.  It is a fragile part of the body and it isn't designed to be worn out so much.

Steve says he interviewed Frank Zane on the podcast years ago and one of the best tips he mentioned was people train their shoulders too much in weight training.  When you have a 3-day split where you do pushing and pulling you are overtraining. In a lot of situations, you might only have 1 day of rest in between, and in both splits, you are hitting your shoulders and doing things like pulldowns, rows, etc on pull days and militaries and inclines on push days which will over train the shoulders way too much.  The truth is the shoulders should not even be trained more than once a week, just like the legs if you go heavy.  Yet weight lifters are typically hitting their shoulders 2 or 3 times a week or more.

Experiences with shoulder injuries

Steve tells the story of his injury and how he has had to adjust his training.  He was told by his doctor after he tore his shoulder that he should never do anything overhead again nor can he lift heavy, otherwise he ran the risk of fully tearing the shoulder and needing surgery.

Noah is not a big fan of weighted with dips, and if you overextend, you can damage your shoulders as well.  He has an implant screw in his shoulder due to tears in his shoulder due to his previous injuries.  He blames his high-volume training, and the mentality that he needs to go for broke and go all in with his training, and that cost him.  He also blames not doing his proper stretching and mobility work which is needed.  He finishes up with the gory details of his surgeries which cost $70K, which included them having to shave down parts of his shoulder.  It took him a year of rehab and he had to sleep a certain way because he couldn't even sleep properly, shower, or drive which was embarrassing. After all, his girlfriend had to take care of him.

Fixes such as Stretching/Mobility importance

Noah and Mobster talk about how you have to adjust your training when it comes to working around injuries and not creating them worse.  They also talk about diet and supplement improvements.

Steve says hot yoga has been a lifesaver because it will lubricate the joints and boost your mobility and flexibility not just in your shoulder but all over your body including your discs.  He recommends doing that twice a week and he recommends doing stretching post workout.  Also, before every workout you must warm up properly and learn to listen to your body if you start noticing something is wrong.  A great sports doctor and physical therapist are crucial because they will be brutally honest with you and tell you what you can do and what you can't do.

Which compounds are neutral or good for injuries

Para Pharma has excellent compounds that you can use that will either help prevent or aid injuries or that are neutral.

HGH Paratropin- Growth Hormone is considered one of the best compounds to heal injuries and you can run anywhere from 1iu up to 3iu as a basic dose. It should be run for a minimum of 4 months for best results.

TB500- This is a great peptide that should be injected 5-15mgs the first couple weeks then you can lower the dosage.

BPC-157- This peptide should be injected directly into the shoulders and a common starting dose is 500mcg daily or EOD, then you can bring down the dose.

Deca Durabolin/NPP- Nandrolone has been considered the best steroid for shoulders as it can help soothe the injury in the short term.  A dose of 200-400mgs a week is common.

Primobolan and Equipoise -This is a mild option and you can run 300-500mgs a week and it can be a neutral option.

Turinabol- A mild oral that can be run 20-40mgs a day.

Which you should avoid for injuries

Trenbolone- This is a very inflammatory steroid that will cause a rapid increase in strength and mass which can create imbalances and lead to injuries.

Anadrol- Just like Tren, it is too strong.

Winstrol- This is a drying oral steroid that will murder your joints.

Masteron- Same as Winstrol, it will harden and dry out joints too much.
