Razor Ramon Profile

Scott Oliver Hall, best known as Razor Ramon (ring name), was an American professional wrestler. He began his wrestling career in the mid-'80s but it wasn't until the early 90's when he hooked up with the WWF (today WWE) that he became well known. His peak stats were 6'7'' and 287 pounds and he was trained by Hiro Matsuda.

Early life

Hall was an Army brat who was born in 1958 in Maryland. He had to move yearly throughout his early life and attended high school in Germany.

Early Career

In 1984, he got his first break in wrestling joining the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) and did not have much success. The next year he joined the AWA (American Wrestling Association) but it wasn't until the WCW (World Championship Wrestling) came along that he got his TV shot.

In 1989, his first television appearance came at the July 9 edition of WCW where he lost to 'The Great Muta' and then his first PPV (pay per view) event was 'The Great American Bash: Glory Days'. Hall spent his time losing to more popular wrestlers, although he got a lot of tv time. He decided to leave the WCW and try his luck elsewhere.

Note: In professional wrestling, promoters will book people to lose matches that are pre-determined, and when you are chosen to lose matches it is called by the slang term 'jobbing'.

After spending a couple of years in Japan and Puerto Rico trying his luck wrestling there, he came back to the WCW and had success defeating Tommy Rich and Tom Zenk in back-to-back matches in 1991 on television.

Developing his character

In 1992, Hall joined the WWF (World Wrestling Federation). His official nickname was 'Razor Ramon' who was a tough Cuban from Miami. His character was based on Tony Montana and Manny Ribera, the two main characters from the movie 'Scarface'. Hall used quotes from the movie and used a heavy Cuban accent to deliver them. He also copied movie scenes as promotions for his matches. Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson (both wrestling producers and promoters) were not even aware of the movie and believed that Hall was creating this character on his own which they loved.

The peak of his career

Hall got involved in a match between Randy Savage and Ric Flair where he helped Flair win the WWF Championship title. This created a feud between Hall and Savage. Hall also created feuds with other wrestlers including Bret Hart, taking personal shots at his family, and Ted DiBiase, whom Hall would beat at SummerSlam.

By this time he was a well-known wrestler and he won the Intercontinental Championship by pinning Rick Martel on an episode of Monday Night Raw. Hall would go on to become the first 4-time Intercontinental Champion.

By the late '90s, the WWF and WCW were the main competing pro wrestling promotions. Hall decided to go back to WCW simply because they offered him time off to rest his body.

He would wrestle for many years for WWE, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, WWC, Juggalo Championship Wrestling, and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

In March of 2014 Hall was announced as the final inductee for the WWE Hall of Fame.

Other television

Hall has been on several shows including The Jerry Springer Show, E:60, Real Sports, and Larry King Show.

He was a part of the documentary called 'The resurrection of Jake the Snake' which is worth a watch.

Marriages

Hall was married 3 times to 2 different women. His first marriage to Dana Lee Burgio failed due to his drug use, but they remarried and divorced again. He also married Jessica Hart but that marriage lasted 1 year. He has 2 children and his son Cody Taylor is also a wrestler.

Criminal history

In 1983 outside a nightclub in Orlando, FL Hall had an altercation with a man who had a gun. Hall says he tried to wrestle the gun away from the man and it went off killing him. He claimed self-defense and the charges were dropped due to not enough evidence. Hall has said he developed PTSD from the incident.

In 1998, he was arrested for groping a woman in Lousiana outside a hotel. Around the same time, he was arrested for keying a limo causing $2000 in damage.

In 2008, a drunk Hall was arrested for attacking a comedian on stage after a joke was made about a wrestler named Owen Hart who had died doing a stunt during a pay-per-view event.

In 2010, a drunk Hall was arrested for cursing and yelling at staff at a bar.

In 2012, a drunk Hall was arrested for choking his girlfriend, but the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence.

Health problems

The WWE was well aware of Hall's issues and paid for his rehab in late 2010 where he had a defibrillator and pacemaker put into his chest. That same year he had pneumonia and had to be hospitalized twice. He also was diagnosed with epilepsy and was dealing with seizures.

The next year, in 2011, he overdosed on opioids and benzos.

Post 2013

Hall has said that he should have been dead 100 times but there is some reason he stuck around. In 2013, a fellow wrestler named Diamond Dallas Page took him under his wing and invited him into his home to help him get sober and rebuild his life.

He changed his life around after this and became an inspiration to others.

Death

Hall had to go to the hospital after a nasty fall where he broke his hip. His hip had prior issues dating back to his wrestling days.

During the hip replacement surgery, a blood clot was dislodged and caused him to get 3 heart attacks on March 12, and he was put on life support. He passed away on March 14 at 63 years old. Kevin Nash one of his best friends made the post on Instagram

Steroid Cycle

There is little doubt that professional wrestlers are on a lot of anabolic steroids. To be able to do what they do requires a lot of talent, hard work, and PED's. Here is a cycle we can speculate he used during his peak years of wrestling.
