Nicknamed "Lights Out", Shawne DeAndre Merriman is a former American football player who grabbed limelight as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) from 2005 to 2012. In his first three seasons with the San Diego Chargers, Shawne Merriman was among the top linebackers in the NFL.

In the 2005 NFL Draft, Merriman was drafted 12th overall by the San Diego Chargers and earned NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in his first season. In his first three seasons, Shawne recorded 39 1/2 quarterback sacks.

History

For the bulk of his sophomore football season, Shawne Merriman batted injuries but never missed a game. Shawne broke onto the national scene his junior year. He was named to the ACC All-Conference team in his junior year and went on to earn the Iron Terp award for the "strongest pound for pound player" on the Maryland football roster.

Merriman signed a 5-year, $11.5 million contract on August 1, 2005 after a long holdout period. He was awarded with The Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year award on January 4, 2006 after he received 81/2 votes of a panel of 50 NFL sportswriters and broadcasters to beat Seattle Seahawks linebacker Lofa Tatupu, who received 161/2 votes.

WWE

Shawne Merriman was chosen as the cover athlete for EA Sports' NFL Tour video game on October 10, 2007 and made a special appearance at WWE's One Night Stand 2008 on June 1, 2008. Merriman returned to WWE as a Wrestlemania XXX pre-show analyst on April 6, 2014 and made a cameo in season 7 of HBO's Entourage.

Doping

As with all great footballs stars, there couldn't be a star without doping allegations. In 2006, CNN announced that Shawne Merriman was suspended by the NFL due to a positive test for anabolic steroids. During an ESPN interview, it was revealed that Merriman clearly tested positive for steroid use and nothing else. Although Shawne tried to play off the incident and say he took a 'tainted' supplement, it was clear by the tests that he was using nandrolone (deca durabolin). Interestingly, he never revealed the supplement he took and couldn't fight the test with a B sample. With that in mind, we'll need to explore his potential steroid cycle to see what he could have been using.

Why were these drugs used on the cycle?

Nandrolone decanoate – this drug used for growth and bulking offseason, as well as joint recovery. It was probably used as a somewhat of a strength agent.

Methandrostenolone – as usual, dianabol is a standard oral kick-start to cycle. It helps bulk up and gain mass, harden up and get strong.

Ostarine – mk2866 is used for injury recovery and for strength. It's effective for joint problems.

Arimidex – this is a good aromatase inhibitor that's used to prevent estrogen problems from aromatizing steroids.

N2Guard – this supplement is used to heal liver problems and fix kidney issues.
