Why training better equals better results
Mobster says he has occasionally seen examples of people who have gone on cycle, and the only time they trained well or ate well was when they were on cycle. Steve says that pushing your body beyond what it is capable of is the whole reason we use steroids in the first place. It involves being uncomfortable whether it be at the gym pushing to that last rep to get a crazy pump, or if you are a runner and you feel nauseous and dizzy trying to keep up with someone faster.
Steve tells the story of working out with an ex back in his 20s who he took to the gym for the first time. She was doing the ab machine and after a few reps stopped and looked at him and said that it hurt. He told her it's supposed to hurt, it's supposed to be uncomfortable. You have to push through that to be successful.
Mobster says in today's modern world we are so packed and busy with life. Most of us have full-time jobs and gig jobs, we have families, we have parents and children, and we have a social life. So the little time you have to workout you must take full advantage of the time you spend in there to do quality training.

Techniques and correcting mistakes
Mobster says he likes to categorize things as cheat training vs. strict training. He talks about doing loose sets. A buddy of his who is an ex-soldier comes to the gym and does questionable form that makes you wonder what he is doing. However, he doesn't do that the whole workout, he just starts with it and finishes his workout. In between, he does very strict training.
Some workouts work tension and some don't. Mobster says he tries his best not to cheat but sometimes he will cheat like bouncing the bar off the chest or bending the back. But you want to avoid it as much as possible.
Steve says the biggest mistake he has made was being a type A personality and wanting to go all in and not pacing himself. This led to him not only getting injuries but also pounding his body through those injuries. If you end up having an issue, it's best to take a short time break vs. risking a long-term injury. Another mistake he says he made was not warming up properly before his workouts and not stretching and working on mobility.
You must do all of that if you are going to progress and get healthy. Steve says to go to a football game that starts at 1 pm and get there EARLY. You will notice the players are on the field hours before the game warming up and doing their static stretching to ensure they stay healthy during the game. The same goes for bodybuilders or any sport. Hot yoga saved his life literally, it allowed him to improve his flexibility and mobility better than anything and it's fun to do.
