Right now, we are discussing how bad the scoring was for UFC 165: Jones vs. Gustafsson. The main event fight between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson was amazing. It was action packed and out of this world, but the main part of the event was the bad scoring by the judges.
Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson — Judges Score: 48-47, 48-47, 49-46, Winner Jon Jones
Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson — We Scored: 47-47 , split decision, favoring Gustafsson
Why is the scoring different? That depends how you score the fight. In round 1-2-3, it was clear Gustafsson was keeping the pace of the fight fast, did a lot of damage to Jon Jones and stuffed all takedowns. In the fight, Alexander Gustafsson stuffed 9+ takedowns! and was able to take down Jon Jones, which was not done before. In round 4, Jones dominated Alexander almost knocking him out, but failing to do so. In the 5, both men were tired and it was uneventful, just slow, tired action. No matter how you slice it, Gustafsson got the decision in our eyes.
We feel this should have been a win for Gustafsson or at least a split decision in his favor. DISCUSS JONES VS GUSTAFSSON @UFC 165 - CLICK HERE
