Uva Ursi Leaf Extract

Uva Ursi is an evergreen shrub native to Asia and Europe. You may know the woody plant by the name bearberry because bears love to eat the fruit of the plant. However, not only bears like this plant, as it has been used by humans for over 2000 years due to its therapeutic benefits. Herbalists will pick out the leaves of this plant and create an extract, which is used in health supplements. In addition to that, you will find hops and peppermint combined with uva ursi to treat urinary problems.

How it works

The leaves of the uva ursi plant contain arbutin, hydroquinone, and additional chemicals that help defend your body against harmful bacteria. Specifically, these chemicals will reduce bacteria in the urine, reduce inflammation, and have a drying effect on our tissues.

Research and medical uses

Urinary tract health is something taken for granted by many people. Luckily, uva ursi can help with bed wetting and infections of the bladder. In fact, before antibiotics ever existed it was uva ursi that was used as a remedy for urinary tract infections; since then, researchers have found that the chemicals it contains will help fight off infections. Furthermore, it also contains tannins, which have an astringent effect. Hence, it will help shrink and tighten mucous membranes and reduce inflammation.

Once uva ursi is ingested, arbutin will split into sugar and hydroquinone, which then combines with glucuronic acid and gets urinated out. As a result, the person will experience relief from mucus membrane irritation, and harmful bacteria will be destroyed.

Other health benefits

Due to its mild diuretic properties, uva ursi helps fight water weight and bloat, so it can serve as a weight loss aid.

Use for bodybuilders

Thanks to its anti-inflammatory and cleansing properties, bodybuilders can benefit from uva ursi on cycle. Using it will lead to a healthier bladder, easier time staying hydrated, and a boost of the immune system.

Moreover, when a bodybuilders use aromatizing compounds like dianabol and testosterone, they tend to bloat up from the water retention. Uva ursi is useful in these situations, since it can serve as a safe and gentle blocker of bloat while reducing water retention. This is important because excess estrogen and water retention will lead to a domino effect of problems like insomnia, fatigue, and high blood pressure. Therefore, it is a good idea to use uva ursi as part of a support supplement stack on cycle and PCT.

Side effects

Uva ursi should not be used by pregnant females or children.

Dosage

Just like with any supplement or medication, uva ursi should not be abused, and it should be run at a conservative dosage along with other support supplements. I would not run it at more than 150 milligrams (mgs) per day, even if a urinal tract infection is present.

Where to find

N2guard contains 75mgs of uva ursi leaf extract, plus dozens of additional ingredients, so it is surely one of the most potent support supplement on the market, and a very good source of uva ursi to use. Personally, I stack n2guard into my cycles because of ingredients like uva ursi.
